Pretty in White

Do you ever just have the blahs?  I've been so lazy for the last couple weeks. No energy to do anything!!  Today I finally did some cleaning, but as far as having any creative energy, well that's just not happening right now.  On that note, I was looking through some of my photos and decided to get a post together from photos with a common theme.  So, hope you enjoy these "white" vignettes.

This makes me wish for Spring.

Birds, bird cages, green plants

Tea time.

I'm really going to try to get back in the swing of creating.  Hope you are feeling creative and not stuck with the winter blahs like me.

Be sure to stop by these great parties:

  1. These are great pictures! You made some really pretty vignettes, something I really admire in people. I struggle with them. The bright colors make me happy and whites make me feel peaceful. This weather would make anyone feel blah...so much gloom!

  2. I'm definitely not feeling creative - must be the gray days.

Will you please do me a favor and when this comment goes to your email, let me know if you get a NO Reply Comment@ blogger.com. I'm having trouble with my emails and don't know exactly where the issue is. Thanks!

  4. Yes, I have been experiencing my worst ever case of the January blues! Hopefully things are going to improve as temps here in New England are going up to the 40s and even 50s tomorrow for one day!! I just love the face on the cherub in your first photo. That is exactly how I feel!! Linda

  8. Oh, I understand about no energy. I get tired out pretty quick any way. I'll be you'll be up and running soon. Now if I could just get out of my chair! ;) I love all your pretty snaps and you always put together lovely vignettes.

  9. I enjoyed seeing these lovely vignettes and especially liked the one with the white cross and pitcher. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my Winter Living Room. You had asked about the wall colour. It is called Toffee Cream by Beautytone which is a line that Home Hardware (Canadian) carries. Its funny you asked about it as we've had that colour for about 8 years and I'm ready for a change!

  10. I thankfully have my daughter's wedding coming which has made me kick into gear or I fear the winter blahs would overwhelm me- as they do in the cold dark days of -20 temps. We have a little sun but too cold to go out, so I will find something to do and by the time the wedding gets here...it will be close to Spring!!

  11. Yes! It's been SO hard to get motivated lately! Which is another reason I have fallen behind on reading blog posts, so....
I really like the art hanging over your master bed at the lake house. It is gorgeous!
    And your roosters look great.
The vignettes in this post are lovely. My favorite is the last one...the colors are perfect.

  12. No Winter blahs here. it's my favorite time of year. Well, we don't really get much weather that seems Wintery, but it was quite cool this morning and that makes me want to be outside and get things done.

As for your Winter blahs, I think everyone needs a break to do something different for a while now and then. Hope you get your creative side moving again soon, but enjoy the little break in the meantime!

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

The Great White Pumpkin

Ever since I saw the pumpkins made from clothes dryer venting hose, I have wanted to make one.  It just so happened that we had some leftover vent hose in the basement, and while I was down there yesterday, I cut off a piece, taped the ends together with masking tape, and spray painted it white.  I let it dry over night.  This morning I brought it up and finished it.  This project is another freebie, because I had everything needed to complete it. I wrapped a piece of cardboard tube from wrapping paper with jute string for the stem.  Then all I had to do was stick the little sprig of orange and green in beside the stem, tie a piece of rust raffia on it, and it was done! This is a simple project, and only takes a few minutes. Once complete, I changed the coffee table vignette to include it. I placed everything in a consignment store tray I bought several years ago.  I was already using the acorns and flower arrangement on the coffee table. ...
