Decorating With Old Wood Boxes and Thrifted Items

I don't think I've shown the side table in the dining room with its Fall decorations.  This table/cabinet is only about a foot in depth, so it is best to use narrow items on the top.  With that in mind, I brought out this old homemade wood box that I refurbished a good while back.  I painted it with ASCP, distressed it and mod podged some French labels on it.  It is filled with some plates I found at a consignment shop, a small urn with a stick pumpkin, a pear, and some greenery and paper leaves. Here you can see how narrow this piece is.  These napkins ar favorites.  They were a consignment find, and are well worn, the way I like them. This old yellow wood box sits on the other end of the table, and holds other fall items, including a fabric pumpkin I made last year.  I found this little crate/box at an antique mall for about $4.00 some time ago. The colorful pitcher holding the flatware, was a Good Will find several years ago.  The apothecary jar hold

Little Frenchy Box

Just wanted to show you the cutest little box I found at DG for $3.50.  It's perfect to hold the remote, a pen and pad, or any other small items you need close at hand or need to keep corralled.  I placed this one on the coffee table in the living room. The fleur de lis is so cute, and the top of the lid has french wording.  Velcro holds it shut.  Cute, huh? I like its low profile since it sits between the love seat and the t.v.   I wanted to share this with you in case you have been looking for something like this.  It would be great to store photos, greeting cards, recipes, or anything similar.  Check out your Dollar General while they are available. A Few Favorites

I'm going to join in the party at The Polo House, Favorite Things on the First .  Come and join in the fun.  The theme is containers .   First up, my sewing drawer.  It's a favorite because I can change it to fit any occasion.  Right now it's decorated for Valentine's Day.   This is a favorite as well.  I refurbished this old wooden box that was originally used to hold 8-track tapes.  I painted it with chalk paint, lined the lid with pretty paper, and mod podged labels to the front.  Just like the drawer, it is decorated differently on a whim! Shiny containers are a beautiful addition to any table! This gate is a great piece to decorate too!  The metal box on the front is a great flower container. I can't forget the jelly cupboard. It contains other favorites. It's great fun to decorate! The arrangement below is a new favorite! Love milk glass, crystal, white dishes! This urn is a great favorite, love the cherub!!
