Collection: Depression Glass

I recently bought these sherbet glasses at Good Will, 5 for $1.35 each with discount, total $6.75.  I found them online for sale from $44.00 to $85.00 for 5!  So a pretty good deal, I think. They are the cloverleaf design with pattern on the foot. Hazel Atlas glassware, c. 1930-1936. Since I'm sharing these, I will share some of my other depression glass collection. This creamer belonged to my grandmother, and I'm so happy to have it. Federal Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass Creamer Pitcher is a vaseline glass piece with the Georgian or "Lovebirds" pattern that was manufactured from 1931 until 1936. The pattern name is Georgian, also known as Lovebirds. One side of the creamer depicts a swag with the lovebirds and the other side is decorated with a flower basket. All of these pieces belonged to my Mother in law.  I believe the dishes trimmed in gold may have been part of a party set, and they are a close match to McKee Hickman dish

Furniture Rearranging

I had a light bulb moment today, and decided to move my late mother-in-law's jelly cupboard from the sun room to the breakfast area.  I don't know why I never thought of that before, but the spot where I moved it is the perfect place, and just the right amount of space for it. Here it is in the sun room. And here it is in the breakfast area.   The family room is to the left, and the sunroom to the right. All decked out for Christmas.... Here is the way I rearranged the sun room.  I wanted to place the plants in front of the windows, so everything got a new spot. I took down the curtains except for 2 panels.  That way the room will get full sun all morning.  I like having the rocker in the corner where the cupboard previously was.  I moved the bifold door to that corner for a punch of color. The eating table and chairs took the corner where the lounge formerly sat.  The plants will certainly get great sunshine here.  A good p

Fall Finery for the Jelly Cupboard

I spent a few hours going through home decor bins this morning, trying to weed out some of my crap  treasures! I emptied 3 out of about 20 bins, so a little progress.  Taking it to Good Will.  I would normally have a yard sale, but that's too much work for me right now. I came across this faux bittersweet garland that I bought at a consignment shop, and decided to put it in the sun room on the little jelly cupboard that belonged to my mother in law.  I've shared it lots of times.  It's one of those places that constantly gets changed. Yesterday, I put the turquoise frame back on top, draped a fringy good will scarf over it, and added a grapevine wreath. The metal tray with the bird on it goes perfectly with the garland. You can see my pitcher collection with the fall colors on the top shelf. I added this little guy to a table top.  He came from Dollar Tree. Nothing highlights an item like a cloche.  This one usually holds a bird, but

My Pitcher Collection

For several years, I collected pitchers. The other day, I gathered them and placed them in the jelly cupboard in the sun room. Some are gifts from friends, but most are ones I purchased in consignment shops.  I have one made of green depression glass that belonged to my grandmother, and a large brown pottery pitcher that my mother used as a tea pitcher.  She also had an identical one that was even larger that I gave to my daughter to display in her farmhouse kitchen.             depression glass;      gift, signed/dated by potter I love this tiny pitcher, chips and all!! Consignment find I fill this one with holly at Christmas. Bottom left~my mother's tea pitcher  The dark yellow pitcher with the twine, was given to me by a friend.  It has a rooster on the front.  I think I have the perfect spot for my collection! The Domino Effect

We've all talked about it!  When you move one thing, it starts a domino effect. Yesterday I showed you how I changed the family room mantel by placing my aqua frame on it, instead of the white gate.  This is what happened to the gate filled with Fall flowers.  It switched places, and was put on top of the jelly cupboard where the frame had been.   This way I can use some shades of blue in both rooms. Then the shutters which were temporarily sitting on the hearth were moved to the entry table. Here I am using them as a back drop.  You can see my attempt at painting hydrangeas in a white pitcher.  I'm trying to teach myself to paint.  Not very good at it, but I enjoy trying.   Here is the dryer vent pumpkin I made last year. These flowers came from the dollar tree, and look really good for a dollar a bush .   Now the entry, family room, and sun room all have orange and blues.   Oh, guess what I did this morning??? I packed up a
