Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

After the wedding, I decided to use some of the shabby jars I had made for rehearsal dinner, to decorate the mantel for spring. I used flowers left from the rehearsal dinner and the wedding tables, to fill the jars. Pink roses and pink & white carnations, with babies breath.  So delicate. My Grandson's wedding was this past Saturday, and my daughter asked if I would decorate for the rehearsal dinner on Friday night.  Since the wedding was casual, we decided to use mason jars as vases for the centerpieces.  I took a trip to Michaels, and bought clear pint and quart jars to use. On Wednesday, I took all my goodies to my craft area in the basement, and got busy shabbying the jars.  I used both chalk paint, and acrylic. After putting one to two coats on the jars, I distressed them using a sanding block/sponge.  Then out came the tidbits to dress them up. I have pastels, and warm colors. I bought this sofa table back in the 80's.  I've always liked it. Like everything else, it's resided in every room of the house, at one time or another, and at the old house as well.  Most recently, I used it on my side of the bed, as a bedside table.  I use a BiPAP machine, so I require a good sized space on the night stand.  I just never really liked the table used for that, so I decided to swap some tables around throughout the house. I'd also been rolling the thought around in my head to give this table a makeover.  While shopping at JoAnns recently, I picked up a couple bottles of the Folk Art, Home Decor Chalk Paint. One of the bottles was Adirondack White, so I painted the table with it. First, I moved the table into the breakfast room.  This room gets lots of light from the sunroom.
