Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

I found these lamps several years ago at a yard sale, for $5.00 each.  They are very heavy, and the lady who had them said she had purchased them from a nearby upscale store.  I was delighted to get them, and have used them ever since. Today, I decided to give them a makeover. Before base I love the style, but lots of times when turning off the lamps, the pineapple fronds at the top would poke our hand or arm, and in fact, several fronds had broken off.  So off they all came. It was easy to remove them simply by just lifting them up and down a few times. After that, I brushed on Pure Gold Metallic Craft Paint. I wasn't worried if some of the darker color showed through. I painted the upper part of the lamp, and left part of the base as it was.  Here you can see how it turned out.  It still needed a little something. I decided to embellish the lamp shades with some greek key ribbon I found in the Craft section at Wal Mart. ...

I am crazy about lamps!  I have so many, but that doesn't stop me from buying more.  Especially when they are a good price, and have a beautiful shape, and are one of your favorite colors, and VINTAGE!  How could I pass it up??  And for $6.00!! This lamp is not perfect, with its partially glued on base, and its stained shade. Not to worry, though.  I knew I had a shade at home that would work fine with this sweet lamp! I bought two of these shades some time ago at WM, and they have made the rounds on various lamps.  It is a perfect fit. The french script, and the fleur de lis tag I made, give it a snazzy look!  I think it's a real beauty!!  I added a fabric flower I made to the top of the shade with a mini clothes pin.  It sits on the bookcase that I painted with Old White chalk paint, with the turquoise back.  It blends in nicely! I'm so proud of this frugal lamp!  I just love it!! ...

I bought this lamp several years ago.  It really doesn't put out a lot of light.  It requires the tiny based chandy bulb, the inside of the shade is gold, and the outside black, so it really is no more than a night light.  It has sat in the guest bath for some time, seldom ever used.   So I just grabbed it up with the intention of covering the shade in something to cover the black. I purchased these scented drawer liners at the consignment shop for $2.99, and decided to use a sheet to cover the lamp shade. Isn't the box pretty? I simply wrapped the paper around the shade, and cut the paper so that I could fold the edges under and glue them around the top and bottom of the shade. Doesn't this paper look like silky fabric? It turned out pretty good, but the floral design didn't match the yellow Victorian boot base.   Out comes the Annie Sloan Louis Blue for a quick fix.    I think it is a cute change.  Nice ch...
