Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

Today, I'm sharing my Christmas dining room.   I'm using my drop cloth table cloth as a base, and a piece of toile remnant from the clearance bin at Wal Mart ($2.00) as a runner. For the centerpiece, I used my white cake stand as a pedestal, and added a milk glass vase filled with turquoise and silver ornaments.  I made these turquoise burlap trees a couple weeks ago.    My place setting is simple and uncluttered, only a silver charger and white plate, white napkins ( I made), and silver napkin rings, with a clear goblet.   Simple and elegant. I changed the napkin rings  when I found a bag of these candle rings at a consignment shop.  At least that's how the tag identified these. I like the snow flake baubles on these, and decided they would look good as napkin rings.  Below, you can see them used as a candle ring. It makes me happy to find items at different places that...

This small wreath has been around for a number of years, and has always had these roses on it.  This is a very small wreath. After removing everything from the wreath, I used items I found at DT to change the wreath for Fall. Since I didn't have enough of these drop cloth scraps or the burlap ribbon, I alternated tying them around the wreath to add some fullness. I like the shabby look and the fact that it looks larger than it really is. I hot glued flowers, felt pumpkins, faux gourds and leaves onto the burlap ribbon and drop cloth strips. I added a piece of stenciled burlap to this old candle jar for a vase.   I created this vignette with the vase of flowers, pumpkin and a wood finial. I added a basket of other Fall items for a spot of decor on the end table. Made a garland from left over leaves and felt pumpkins.  It hangs on the kitchen hutch. Are you ready for the New Year?  I'm getting excited as I plan to retire from my job on March 31st.  I'll have over 24 years, but will turn 60 in March and want to be home with my hubby who is already retired.  We look forward to being able to go to our home in South Georgia and not have to come back so quickly so I can go to work. I packed away all the decorations the day after Christmas and shopped the house to get a different look.  I am happy with the changes.  See what you think.
