Prettied Up

A few years ago, I bought a bird cage on clearance at Lowe's.  I already had this plant stand.  It had been on the screened porch in one spot or another ever since. I decided it needed to be prettied up. I placed paper towels over the birds as best I could, sat the cage inside a plastic bin, turned on it's end, and sprayed with white spray paint with primer that I already had in my stash.   Next, I uncovered the birds, and using a long handled artist brush, I gave them a new coat with acrylic craft paints.  Once everything dried, I brought it into the sunroom where I discovered that the bottom will unhook, so I added a birds nest I already had. Then I tied a ribbon around the top and attached a tag with a fleur de lis. Much brighter and prettier to look at.   What have you prettied up recently? A Few Face Lifts

I asked my sweet husband to bring our plants up to the screened porch.  We wintered them in the basement and didn't lose any. The Philodendron lost its biggest leaves, which it needed to do, and is starting over with smaller ones.  All the succulents and spider plants made it really well. We're using the small ladder I painted again this year. MOVING ON TO MY PROJECTS, See this yellow plaque on the front porch? I decided to give it a little face lift, using my free Valspar sample from a year or so ago. I like the color much better , and the design too.  Before it said  Welcome to our home. I also added the chain to it. I failed to take a before picture of this sign (Home Sweet Home), but it was also a yellow background with a bird house, apples, and the wording. I used the same sample paint, then free-handed the wording and painted on the bird house.  Next I stamped it with 2 fleur de lis', then used som...

Bargain Bird Cage

I had a coupon for a free Valspar paint sample from Lowe's, so I went in yesterday to choose a color.  I got a very pastel pink color.  While in there I went to look at the clearance items in the outdoor section of the store. They had put several of their garden statues and other items on sale.  Lucky me!! Look what I bought for $9.99.  It is very well built, and is fairly heavy, and y'all know how I love birds and cages.   It was regularly $19.99, so if you need/want one, now is the time to go in and grab one before they are gone.   I added it to my plant area on the screened porch.  I'm still loving my ladder plant stand. The stand where I placed the cage looks like it was made for it. The birds look realistic.   I'm thinking the cage would look great in a fall vignette, too. Primping and Tweaking Vignettes

I showed you this sweet bird cage/cloche I found at Queen of Hearts Antiques.  I had originally placed it in the sun room.  This morning I was cleaning and dusting, and decided to move a few things around.  So simple, but it can have a great impact on your decor.   I moved the birdcage to the living room near the frenchy wire basket I bought last weekend. I changed the succulent plant for this flower pot and bird. As usual, when you move one thing, it starts a chain reaction. This potted grass got moved to the entry table. (ten dollar consignment find) This cupid bowl with roses was moved to the book case. This piece gets moved around quite frequently.  I've had it a very long time, but don't remember where I bought it from. The tray on the coffee table got an update too. I purchased the greenery in the tray on clearance at Michael's on Friday.  Here you again see the sweet wo...

Awesome Finds

One of my best friends and I got together Friday, and went to Queen of Hearts in Buford.  She had never been, and we had so much fun looking at everything.  Of course, you who follow, know that I came home with a few things.  Couldn't resist this sweet wire bird cage/cloche.   Is this not the cutest!?! Around $12.00! I have a faux succulent inside.  (Visited Michael's too!!) Love it's chippy look! I'll have lots of fun with this! I found this wonderful wood candle holder.  I love its shape. It is holding a faux succulent also! Like the flower shape it has. I think it was around five dollars. I also bought a couple books.  Cute finds I think! What have you found lately?  I'd love to see!
