Wanna Tour a Batchelor Pad?

.... Not just ANY batchelor pad!  My 22 year old grandson, Blake, has moved into his first place!  Well, actually, he's lived away from home for nearly 6 years, but always with roommates, in dorms, in shared homes and apartments, etc.  He recently accepted a full-time position as Worship Pastor at a church near Atlanta, and moved into an apartment near there.  He luckily found the perfect apartment and has started to furnish it.  It's two bedrooms/2 baths on the 2nd floor in a gated complex. Thankfully, it was extremely clean, with great colors, and laid out really well for privacy.  I asked if I could do a post on his place, and he said yes, so here it is!     (Photos taken with Iphone) Great Floor Plan (source) All the walls are the same neutral color with lots of crown molding. The kitchen is done in black and white, great for a guy! It includes a large pantry.  (Door at right).  Master Bedroom (the day he moved in). Walk in closet.

Screened Porch, Ready for Summer

I've finally gotten the screened porch ready for the warm seasons.  Nothing new, even the same plants.  Just a few changes.  The Philodendron shed its largest leaves over the winter, and is putting on new growth.  It gets huge!  The plant corner where I'm using the same ladder as last year.  I did add the blue stool.  This is its third color.  I bought it white/gray washed, painted it pink and gray, now it is aqua. That's the fun of small pieces like this.  It's a quick project to repaint it for a new look.  My husband had this little red and white stool.  The chippiness is just too perfect to cover with paint!  The bird house works nicely with my tiny stool, stenciled with Home Sweet Home.  I added an angel made from sea shells to the spider plant.  More buds on the cactus.  My succulents made it through the winter just fine in the basement. This metal basket only had greenery stuck in it, so I decided to take it down t

Frugal Retail Therapy

Saturday, bronchitis better!  Consignment shop, here I come!! Time for a little frugal retail therapy!  Went to my favorite haunt, Hen's Nest!  Was NOT disappointed. Here's what I found for $33.00!! First, this wonderful fabric shower curtain, $5.99! From silky beige fabric, to colorful! Color was needed in this room!! This fleur de lis pillow works well with my new quilt on the master bed. It's Portofino brand, and a wonderful size, larger than most! You won't be surprised at what else came home with me. This bird, cross, and the doily made up the remainder of my treasures~  I loved the look of this doily. Not bad at all for $33.00, and it felt good to just go and browse.   What have you found recently?? Tweaking Vignettes

Today, I am sharing lots of photos.  I've (of course) been moving things about (small things), back problems and bronchitis don't allow for doing a whole lot.  Bronchitis for five weeks takes the get up and go right out of you.  After my 4th injection yesterday, and my 8th different prescription, I hope I'm on the mend!! Anyway, on the rare occasion when I've had a little energy, I've rearranged a few vignettes around the house. I love decorating with birds and nests, and found this nest at Queen of Hearts.  I added my blue bird from Michael's to the old sewing drawer, for the coffee table centerpiece in the Family Room. An urn with faux hydrangeas sits on the hearth.  I've shown this picture before of the pot of hydrangeas.  The frame is an old window frame from my grandmother's house.  I had to cut the mat down about an inch on each side for it to fit. I love that it is in the family room where I can see it. I stained th
