A Christmas Vignette

The top of my Mom's old pie safe is a favorite place to decorate.  To begin this vignette, I placed a short red runner on top.  It was purchased some time back at a consignment shop.  The white rooster lamp sits on top of the cupboard all the time, so it stayed. I placed some Christmas florals and green clear ornaments inside the french basket, and laid a spray I bought at an after- Christmas sale last year on the top also.  ( photos made with iphone....camera needs charging) The sparkly deer is from Dollar Tree about 3 years ago. I have at least 10 bins of Christmas decorations in the basement, and am trying not to go through all of them because I keep bringing things upstairs to decorate more places.  I really, REALLY won't to keep it 'light' this year!! Softness and Light

I recently bought this sweet little French basket, and love the look it gives to a vignette.  Here I have used it as a centerpiece for the table in the sun room.   I have filled it with white and cream doilies, a white bird, and a gold tassel.  I love the calmness it it exudes on the white crocheted table cloth. The Dollar Tree bird, painted white several years ago, is all nestled in the linens. I love the serenity of all white homes, but don't know if I could do it.  I do, however like to have areas where white dominates.  Nothing speaks softness like white.   Now, the basket holds Fall potpourri.   Simple, subtle, Fall softness and light. Primping and Tweaking Vignettes

I showed you this sweet bird cage/cloche I found at Queen of Hearts Antiques.  I had originally placed it in the sun room.  This morning I was cleaning and dusting, and decided to move a few things around.  So simple, but it can have a great impact on your decor.   I moved the birdcage to the living room near the frenchy wire basket I bought last weekend. I changed the succulent plant for this flower pot and bird. As usual, when you move one thing, it starts a chain reaction. This potted grass got moved to the entry table. (ten dollar consignment find) This cupid bowl with roses was moved to the book case. This piece gets moved around quite frequently.  I've had it a very long time, but don't remember where I bought it from. The tray on the coffee table got an update too. I purchased the greenery in the tray on clearance at Michael's on Friday.  Here you again see the sweet wo...

Frenchy Vignettes, etc.

I hope everyone has recovered from the Independence Day festivities.  We enjoyed a very quiet day at home.  It rained buckets, so it was nice not to have special plans.   I've been puttering around today, moving things, and will share some small changes. I visited a store today for my first time.  They specialize in iron and metal items for home and garden.  They are somewhat expensive, but I managed to pick up a cute wire basket and some greenery. I think it has a frenchy vibe, especially with the greenery. Of course, moving one thing, starts a chain reaction! More Frenchy goodness. A new spot for the pest trap.   We had guests this week, and I noticed they didn't use the towels that are meant for guests.  I suppose they thought they were part of the decor.  So, I made a label, and tied it on the P&G basket that holds towels in the guest bath. A guest prior to these, did the same thing.  They...
