My Best Thrifty Finds of 2010

I've had great luck with thrifting this year.  Some of my items are so nice.  I'm joining Linda at her Junkin' Finds Party .  Come on over to her party!  The more, the merrier!  Thanks Linda for hosting!! I am sharing some of my favorites with you.  I won't bore you with all the details.  The most I paid for anything was $10.00 (rooster and green lidded casserole dish).  Most items were from $1.00 or less to $4 or $5.00.  It's hard to pick a single favorite, but I think the little Royal Daulton plate (near the bottom of my blog) rates in the top 2 or 3.  I gave fifty cents for it at a thrift shop, and have seen them on e-bay for as much as thirty to forty dollars.  They were made in 1930.  Now if I can find more of these I'll be ecstatic. Wishing all of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!  Happy Thrifting!!

Seminole Home

I frequently mention our second home on Lake Seminole.  Part of this  property that has been in my husband's family for many years.  His parents lived there.  My husband also bought adjoining property in order for his parents to have more of a buffer between them and neighbors.  When his mother was about 93, she asked to come live with us in North GA.  She obviously had started having some problems being alone, although she never told us what precipitated her request to move.  She had lived there for a very long time alone and had always said that she would die there. She wanted to live "near" us, not with us.  She valued her independence so much.  We bought her a small double-wide mobile home and placed it on property near us.  She only lived there about a year or a little longer until she passed away. The little home was still in excellent condition.  It sat here empty for the last three years.  My husband decided he would have the home moved to Lake Seminole so w

Seminole Visit

Hubby and I have spent the last four days at our home in Seminole Co. GA.  While there I visited a couple of thrift shops and came away with some really cute stuff.  Everything you see here for $14.00. This little guy was only $1.00.                                    These 2 pictures were $1.00 each.                                      I hung them in the guest room.                    This strawberry tray is really nice and was only $1.50. She had one with blue colors and a hummingbird.  Now I wonder why I                                       didn't get it as well. ???                                        This little dish was ten cents.                     This pitcher was $3.00.  Handpainted in Portugal. This cute little fellow was $2.00.  He matches the rooster on my plate that                  I bought at the same store a couple of months ago.                  I love these wire chickens.  The eggs are made of wood.  This was a fun trip to the thrift store
