Seminole Visit

Hubby and I have spent the last four days at our home in Seminole Co. GA.  While there I visited a couple of thrift shops and came away with some really cute stuff.  Everything you see here for $14.00.

This little guy was only $1.00.

These 2 pictures were $1.00 each.
I hung them in the guest room.

This strawberry tray is really nice and was only $1.50.
She had one with blue colors and a hummingbird.  Now I wonder why I
didn't get it as well. ???

This little dish was ten cents.
This pitcher was $3.00.  Handpainted in Portugal.

This cute little fellow was $2.00.  He matches the rooster on my plate that
I bought at the same store a couple of months ago.

I love these wire chickens.  The eggs are made of wood.
This was a fun trip to the thrift store and gave me some new goodies to play with.  The wire chicken, tray and rooster were added to the hutch in the kitchen.  Everything in this hutch belonged to my mother in law except the angel, bird house and the items I purchased today.  She had some great items
for decorating, but most were packed in boxes.  It's so much fun to go through the boxes and come up with "new to me" treasures.  I will be sharing some other items I have found that were hers in future blogs.  I found an awesome
treasure that I am so excited about.  Coming soon!!

Hope you're finding some great thrifty treasures.

I'm linking to Linda's party, junkin' finds.  Bring your treasures and come too.  It's lots of fun!!!

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
