Fall Decorating Ideas

These are just a few of my favorite decorations I've created for this fall.  As usual, I brought out lots of things, and thrifting has netted me even more lovelies.  Sometimes, you just have to buy more whether you need it or not.  GW find,  $1.51  GW find, $6.96 ~ I saw this last week and decided if it was still there I was getting it.    This has a top, no chips or anything, $6.96; I wanted it to hold my cooking utensils.  Love pheasants!  Found this pumpkin at Home Goods.  Topiary, from GW Share Your Style Share Your C up   Talk of the Town Vintage Charm Create, Bake, Grow & Gather @ Shabby Art Boutique Feathered Nest Frida y Home Matters Share It One More Time

Another Small Lamp Makeover

If I remember correctly, I found this small lamp several years ago at a consignment shop. This is the original look, which I loved for a long time, especially the way the boot was painted.  At some point later, I completely changed the look of it with paper and paint. I redecorated the top of my mother's pie safe and decided I needed a small lamp to sit on it.  So I got this one out of the closet and did another makeover on it with ivory paint, taupe fabric, and lace. Vignette on top The topiary was less than a dollar, and I painted the pot to clean it up, added stick-ons, and the large flower. Lamp after makeover.  I used Waverly Chalk Paint in Ivory, taupe fabric scraps (hot glued on), and cotton lace with ribbon.  The base has a stick-on piece from the Dollar Tree.  It reads, "simply life". I like using lamps and now this can give a warm glow to this area.  I like it in white best of all.  I've been on a roll of updating lamps recent

2017 Fall Decor Tour

I've made several trips to the GoodWill stores in our area, and have found some great bargains that I will share with you.  My intention was to use neutral colors  in my fall decor and not so much orange, but the orange creeped in anyway.  Today, I'm sharing my fall home tour.  We will start at the front door.  This wreath already had some of the items painted in the light blue which matched the door. I made and added the mesh bow.  (This was bought at GW for around $4). This metal tray was around 4 dollars prior to the discount, and I knew it would look good on the coffee table and having a low profile would not impede seeing the t.v.  I stopped at two rustic items stores, and found the small stuffed green and orange pumpkins.  The white ones are real, and the burlap ones are from the Dollar Tree last year.  I found the antler at the GoodWill that had the tray, and the cotton stalk was in the same store as the pumpkins. I added a a couple of faux tea ligh

Painting My "Bible" Table

Diana Wise (Sissie's Shabby Cottage ) identified this table for me when I first bought it at a consignment shop as a Bible Table.  I remember giving only $29.00 for it and wanted it because it reminded me of one my grandmother had that her radio sat on.  Hers was larger than mine. The way I love to change things, this table has remained in the condition/color I bought it for a long time. While in our Wal Mart on Friday, I noticed they had Waverly Chalk Paint again.  They hadn't had any in a very long time, so I bought the aqua, and the ivory colors. Now this little table carries my favorite color, but I'm considering distressing it a little. This tends to be the favorite spot for my guests to sit.  They gravitate directly to this chair, and I must say it is extremely comfortable. I keep my grandson's wedding pictures beside the chair, along with books with aqua covers stacked on the shelf uderneath.  I even found an aqua basket to hold our throws.
