Making Three Different Wreaths

My daughter asked if I would make her a new Christmas wreath and sent me a Pinterest photo of something similar.  She wanted red/white buffalo checked ribbon (which wasn't found in 3 stores), she wanted cotton bolls, couldn't find those either.  But with lots of improvising and a few hot glue burns I finally figured out what to do. Here is the finished wreath, then I will tell you how I did it! (here it is laying on the edge of my table, so you can see the chairs, etc.)  I edited the background out but that photo looked worse so it is what it is! Supplies: grapevine wreath, 4.99 (Wal Mart) berries 3 stems, Michael's 2.98 each (minus discount) 1 roll plain red ribbon, 1 red ribbon with snowflakes, one with peppermint stripe on edge, a scrap of burlap type red/white from an old wreath of hers, cotton from a large roll like you would use to stuff a pillow a large pine cone florist wire glue gun/glue I guess the total for this is around $15. It's ha

Oh Christmas Tree

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving.  We sure did.  We went to my sister's in law and on Thanksgiving Day, to my daughter's.  My grandson and his wife were here and I enjoyed them tremendously!! Today, I'm sharing our Christmas Tree.  I saw it on display at Lowe's prior to Thanksgiving and actually bought the display.  Since it was already assembled and "fluffed", I went ahead and put it up and decorated it.  Here it is with mostly new ornaments from the Dollar Tree, where they had so many pretty ones this year.   This ornament is three dimensional on both sides.  So nice!!   This one is full of bling!!   Some came two to a set.  Love these two above! The angel wings came in pink, white, silver, gold.   I really like the new tree.  It's not that much larger than my other one, but the greenery is more realistic.  I plan to take my old one to the lake house.  I have one there, but it's very small.

Snippets of Christmas

I've been rather lazy when it comes to my blog recently.  But I found a new tree that I loved at Lowe's on sale, (I bought the last one ~ the display), so it was already put together and fluffed, so when I got it home, I went ahead and put it up and started decorating for Christmas.  I think I've told you before, that my husband is not a fan of fall decor, and had mentioned several times that he would be glad when the Christmas decor went up. So I'm going to show you a few snippets of what I"ve done, then later, I'll show each room, and then a full tour.  For right now, here ya' go!! My brother recently gave me his collection of trucks, a tractor, and a car, so I put a tree in the back, and added magnets from the DT to the side.  It sits on the mantel. Here's the tractor on the other end of the mantel. It's decked out with a wreath! This tray holds a black truck and the antlers I recently found at GW. I'm using a spray for a

A Simple Dollar Tree Christmas Craft

Here is a simple craft you can do for $4.00 by using items from the Dollar Tree. You will need: 2 Christmas gift bags of your choice, the short wide bags work best 2 Matching picture frames, size 8x10 scissors tape (maybe) pen These are the two bags I chose. First take your frames apart, cut the picture from the front side of the bag;  lay your glass on the front side of the bag, draw around the glass, being sure it's centered, then cut at your markings to make an 8x10 picture. With the first bag "Happy Holidays", the word "Happy" was outside the 8x10, so I cut the letters separately and taped them to one of the handles from the bag, and then attached it along the right side like a banner. The wording on this one was within the 8x10 size. Put them in your frames, and you are done! Come Christmas, use them in your decor!! The Dollar Tree has beautiful gift bags that can be made into pictures to either hang or sit so

Whites in the Master

Before:  Recently I've had lots of blue in the master, and I really like it a lot.  HOWEVER, my daughter had a white coverlet that she didn't like on her bed, so she let me use it. AFTER:  With white on the bed.  I still have plenty of blue in here, but am enjoying the different look with the plain white. Embroidered Pillow, $1.99 (consignment shop) Of course, I had to get some different art so that meant a trip to GoodWill, 3.93 each. Aren't changes good?  Refreshing your bedroom is easy, just make a few changes with bargain finds, or items borrowed from a friend, or as in my case, my daughter. Something Different in the Dining Room

You've seen my dining room many times.  We bought this dining room suite not that long ago, probably 8 years or so.  Well, recently, we've noticed that the top layer of the "leather" chairs is deteriorating.  Makes me wonder if it's really leather.  For the price, it should be.  Anyway, we don't use it often, and I think I probably failed to condition it enough due to that reason. "before" of the chairs So, what to do?  I couldn't figure out what to do to cover the bad places on 3 of the 6 chairs.  So I went on Amazon and found these stretch dining chair covers.  They are a really tight fit and we didn't think we would ever get them on the chairs, but finally we did and I like them a lot. Ideally, I would have liked them to be a little larger, or more stretchy since they don't lay exactly right in the area between the back and the seat.  But they are usable, and the colors work great in the room.
