Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

If you are like me, you can't leave well enough alone!  I've been busy tweaking my fall decor.  Sometimes, you just have to keep at it until it looks like you want. That's what I've been doing in the dining room. Last week I added color to the table by incorporating fall dishes with those already in each place setting.  I just wasn't satisfied with the centerpiece or the runner. I decided to remove the bowls, switch out the napkins, add real white pumpkins, switch the runner, and do a new centerpiece. So realistically, all that I left from before was part of the dishes, and the tablecloth. Here are the changes I made. BEFORE Note, runner, and center decor~centerpiece needs to be elevated. With addition of fall dishes, later bowl was removed. A while back, I gave an old bamboo box a makeover.  I was in the basement, with no camera, and picked up this box, and just started painting it with leftover paints I had. Sorry there's not a before picture, but you will get the idea, it was just plain bamboo wood, no color other than the way it came. Here is what I did to update it and make it more likely that I would decorate with it.  If you follow me, you know, Aqua, Turquoise, and greens are some of my favorite colors.  So, as usual, that is what I used. So, if you can, imagine it all being like the gold/brown you see here. Here is the top of the box.  I used some pale yellow and the aqua on the top. When I recently painted the trug blue, I knew I wanted to use it as a centerpiece in the dining room. That meant I needed to change the china on the table.  I put away the gray and pink, and set the table with blue and white American Limoges Bridal Bouquet.   Shown below.  It is a more formal china, and the silver chargers work well with it. Since I knew the trug with dried hydrangeas was going to be the centerpiece,  I kept the tablecloth I made from a drop cloth. I used a runner that repeats the colors of the hydrangeas, blue, green, and rust colored. The formal china and the rustic trug makes for an unusual combination, but it is pleasing to me. Do you use a mixture of textures in your decor?  It creates a unique look.  Maybe you will try it sometimes. Everything shown was either gifted, bought at consignment, or made by me. Hope your Easter was fabulous!  Ours was great.  I made lunch for the family, so there were six of us.  Menu:  Baked ham, potato salad, corn, green beans, homemade biscuits, banana pudding, french coconut pie, and of course, sweet southern tea!!   Since Easter is over for another year, it is time to box up the bunnies.  So while hubby is mowing the lawn, I've taken Easter out of the Spring decor.   First, I moved my plants outside to the screened porch.  (I can bring them back in at night if we have the threat of frost).  That allowed me to play with my benches and stools in the sunroom.
