My Easy Winter Decor

Guess what?  I'm using part of my Christmas decor as my Winter decor.  I had a snowman theme for Christmas, so  while packing away the Christmas decor, I just left certain items out for the month of January.  Easy to do, and I'm happy with how it turned out. The mantel: I removed the Merry Christmas sign, added snowflakes to the "gate", changed up the floral stems, added a wooden snowman, 2 snowmen for the mantel, and scrabble letters that spell "Let it Snow".   I love how these items look on the "gate".  I love using the white berries with the green and red.  These stems were part of an arrangement I had for Christmas in the sunroom. Do you see the little snow man?  It is wood, and spells SNOW.   China Cabinet: I liked the little pops of red in the china cabinet, so I left those and added some mercury glass acorns to the mix.   I think this will work just fine for January.  I've decided to

Roosters in the Kitchen

Recently we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel.  On the way out we noticed a rooster platter.  It was nice, but I didn't really think about buying it.  My husband commented on it.  I think he's beginning to adopt some of my habits.    A couple of days ago, he suggested we ride back to Cracker Barrel because he "couldn't get it off his mind".  Can you believe that?  So not being one to say "no", we headed out.  Once there, we found a matching clock, that had to come home with us too. I must admit he's a handsome fellow, and he looks so good in the breakfast area. The clock sits on a weather vane.  So cute!! My rooster corner.  :)  They blend in so well with the pictures I bought at Kirkland's. If you're a rooster lover, it's a good time to go to Cracker Barrel!   I'm linking to: Feathered Nest Friday   Flaunt it Friday   Show and Tell Friday   Vintage Inspiration   Saturday Nite Sp

Sharing Shadymont: Best Projects 2012

Wow! I didn't realize how many projects I did in 2012.  Way too many to show them all, so I will just share the ones I like best!   This olden plant stand was dark brown wood, full of scratches and water marks.  Here it is with a coat of home made chalk paint, and a little distressing.  Now it's in the guest bath holding the necessities. I painted the bottom of my Mother's old Hoosier cabinet.  I don't have the top part of the cabinet, but I have really enjoyed using this!  It's in my mudroom. I added a frenchy label to this old box I found at a consignment shop, and filled it with blue Ball jars and other goodies. I painted the 8-track tape box below, and added mod podged frenchy labels to it. I painted the larger stool white and added a fleur de lis stencil to it. I created this no-sew burlap pillow and painted a stencil on it. I gave this bi-fold door a  coat of paint & distressed it. One of my most popul

Merry Christmas (My Christmas Wish for You)

Wishing all of you a joyous Christmas filled with good health, happiness and cheer.  May God bless you! (Recapping a few Christmas spots at Shadymont) I bought this metal horse and ice wagon in the mid seventies in a gift shop where I was the accountant.  It is really heavy, and a favorite.  Above is my grandson's first guitar all decked out!
