Linens and Other Things

Today I was at Good Will when they opened and did I ever score!!  It was Sr. Discount Day, and I wanted to get in before everything was picked over. Here are today's finds: Six  Vintage Jeanette  Blue  Hellenic Grecian  Wedgwood  5 1/2"  Glass  Tumblers, total after discount, $4.45 Two vintage electrical insulators at $1.43 each.  I was surprised to find the glasses and the insulators.  Not something you usually find at GW. I already had the turquoise insulator above.  My husband's father was an electrician and this is one he had.  This small picture is wood, and cost $.91. Then I had another surprise when I found these shams that match the twin bed quilts I have at the lake house. These were $2.72 You might remember I found a pair of shams a few weeks ago that match the quilt in the master at the lake house, and now these!  Can you believe it!!  I couldn't.  Here are more linens I've found recent

Revisiting the Sunroom

Of all my rooms, the sun room is probably my favorite.  I like the soft colors, and the outdoor views.  This room has a shabby cottage theme, with lots of birds and flowers.  You may remember my $6.00 makeover of this room.  If not, you can see it here .   I love the sunlight this room gets all morning.  It beams through the windows, making it a warm spot on cooler mornings. We often have our morning coffee here. It's a great place to start the day.  The room sits between the master suite and the screened porch. Vintage table from a local antique shop.  Closet bi-fold door leans against the wall. Display items  on the door, can be changed out seasonally.   french doors to master suite The jelly cupboard holds my collection of pitchers.  A cluster of cloches hold birds in their nests, on top of the jelly cupboard. Here, you can see my collection of rose plates above the windows. This picture continues the birds theme.  It is dat

Blue Accents

Have you noticed that using blue in home decor is back in vogue? Today, I'm sharing places where I have incorporated the color blue. My favorite blue find was the hall tree, but this little vintage table was an equally good bargain at my favorite consignment shop.  It was only $29. It's a perfect fit for this corner, and faces the front door, so I try to make it look welcoming. The table holds several items in blue.  I was happy to find the blue/white doily. My hall tree is often decked out in blue. I've brought a round, blue braided rug into the family room, and we love it. The bonus room, my retreat, has quite a bit of blue. We favor blue at the lake house as well. This sweet blue table holds a TV in a guest room. The living room suite is blue and white. I love the pitcher I bought with its blue flowers. This dark blue tray was a great find. blue and white ginger jar B
