Thrifty Table Decor

I was in a thrift shop recently and saw a table cloth I really liked.  The sign on the window indicated that items with a red dot were 1/2 price.  The tablecloth was $5.00 and had a red dot.  The cashier was color blind I guess.  She said the dot was orange.  So, I didn't buy the table cloth.  But I just kept thinking I should have bought it.  Friday on my lunch hour I decided I would go in and if they still had it, I would buy it, It was still there. Friday, the color for half price items was yellow.  The tablecloth was still marked with the red dot so I figured I would pay the full $5.00 price.    I took it to the cashier and she rang it up at 1/2 price, $2.50.  Whoo-hoo!!!  Guess it just depends on the mood of the cashier.  :)  Maybe the color of the day doesn't really matter????     Whatever the reason I got it and for the price I wanted to pay!!  Isn't it pretty?  It had no stains or anything wrong with it.  A great buy!  See how it matches the rug?  I bought the

Weekend Travels and Spring Vignette

My daughter, granddaughter, and I went to Cleveland TN this weekend to visit my grandson at the University.  While we were there I did a little shopping while at Cracker Barrel and yesterday, we went to the Good Will and I had great luck there as well. First I will show you the wonderful pedestal serving dish I found.  Isn't this a lovely piece?  It is rather heavy and has the most gorgeous design.  I gave $4.99 for it.  See the scalloped edges? Here it is in a vignette.  I just absolutely had to buy it.  The lady at GW told me she had put it out just a very few minutes earlier.  She told me in a few days I could find some wonderful antiques.  She had just received a whole house full at the back door.  Oh my,  wish I could be there as she brings those items into the store.  They had many lovely things yesterday, but I hated to shop so long that my granddaughter would get impatient, so I didn't buy as much as I would have had I shopped alone.  I did pick up four little sala

The Pinks of Spring

I noticed that I've used a lot of pink in my decor recently, especially in my Spring vignettes, so I am linking to Beverly's at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.  I'm pulling some of the pink from the last few posts to join in this party.  Enjoy the pinks of Spring.  Be sure to come to the party at Beverly's!

Springtime Breakfast Table

Yesterday I went to Michael's on my lunch hour.  Their Ashland line was 50% off so I purchased this little wooden box, the stems, and the bunny rabbit and little oval box.  Isn't he a little cutie? They only had three of these stems left so I bought all of them.  Notice the little bird nest and egg.  They are so sweet. Don't you love the Robin's egg here? Such a precious little box. The wooden box has the word Spring on front and back.  This photo shows the back.  Whoops, need to remove the UPC label on the little oval box.   The dishes are very old.  Some belonged to my mother and some to my MIL.  The little cup is one of four that I have.  I don't have the saucer, they have very delicate pink and blue flowers on them and a silver band at the top.  The roosters are S/P shakers from Target.  The napkins are Shabby Chic from Target as well.  The rooster napkin rings are a good will find. The place mats are a thrift store purchase. I know y

Welcome Spring

It has been such a nice day here today.  I decided to change out the wreath on my front door to something more spring like. This is the one I've had up since before Valentine's Day. I've really enjoyed it, but it was time to "lighten-up".  The wreath is one I made a few years ago.  I just added a ribbon.  I may tweak it a little more, but for now this is how it looks. I also quickly made an arrangement to sit on a table beside the front door. Please excuse the white specks on the brick.  I think there has been a little birdie flitting around outside.  :) This little birdie decided to come in and sit in the cloche for a while.   Added a 'Springy' tag to the cloche. I also added this picture to the mantle.  A Spring home for all the birds.  I hope you are welcoming Spring at your house too! Have a great week. I am linking to Metamorphosis Monday at BNOTP . Thanks Susan for this weekly invitation!  You're a great hostess. On Tuesday, I

Spring Cloches

Today I am joining in Marty's Spring Cloche Party. Please drop by for lots of inspiration.  Thank you for hosting  Marty. Over the weekend, I re-worked some of my cloches in preparation for the party Marty is having.  Here are some of them. I bought this cloche at Chic or Shabby consignment store.   They specialize in painted and distressed antiques.  It's a fun place to shop.   The little rose bouquet inside is from Kirklands several years ago. This is the little dome and Limoge plate with the roses that I purchased at the Treasure Hut Thrift Store in South GA. This apothecary jar came from Ross and is filled with grapes.  Notice the rooster tag I found at Michael's. I bought this hurricane and pedestal at Home Goods several months ago.  The white rose is a gift from a dear friend at work. This is a cheese dome I found at Habitat Restore placed on a blue glass plate.  I've had the fruit basket for many years. This little dome and plate
