Christmas Tour, Part I

Today, I'm taking you on a partial tour of the house all decorated for Christmas. On the front door, I have a spray rather than a wreath. Just inside, in the foyer, is this piece that was given to the men at church for Father's Day.  I kept the 3 crosses on the inside, and draped, garland, poinsetias, and lights on the hooks on the front. Next to the foyer is the dining room, where the tree is located. The tree is new, and was the display tree at Lowe's, so I bought it already put together, fluffed, etc.  I came home and all I had to do was decorate it. Touches of red brighten the china cabinet.  I inserted red ornaments and berries into various dishes.    Accross from the front door is the hall tree.  I have an angel tree topper on it this year and love the way it looks there. Next up is the mantel and other areas in the living room. I've changed the mantel some since I took this photo.  Just a l...

Fall Decor for the Hall Tree

I spent several hours one morning last week,  trying to get the fall decor on the hall tree in the foyer to look like I wanted. After several tries, I finally liked it well enough to stop tweaking it. First I removed everything I had on it. before I swapped out everything on it including the lamp.  I decided to use this really old one.  I do like this lamp though. Alot! Do you remember these lamps?  I think some people used to place ruffled cloth shades on them.  When were these popular, maybe the 70's? I kept it simple, the lamp, a brown metal vase with fall flowers, a book with rust, orange, and green colors, and this owl.   after Then I hung this wreath I decorated the other day, on one of the hooks, and called it finished. On the bottom shelf, I placed a long brown wooden container filled with fall leaves and pumpkins. That's it, nothing too over the top.  Just a simple theme that will last through...

Fall Tour of Porch, Foyer, and Family Room

I finally got some more storage bins upstairs and have pretty much completed decorating for Autumn.   Famous last words, right?   Yesterday morning after breakfast, I did my cleaning, then started pulling out more fall 'stuff' .  I absolutely love Autumn.  The warm colors are pleasing to me as are the cooler temperatures.  I use lots of taupes and browns in my home, so the oranges and burgundies just blend in so well. I decorated for a while and had finished and was about to get a shower when my door bell rang.  Both my sisters had stopped by for a visit, so I was really glad I had my fall decorations out.  They walked around looking at everything, and oooh'd and aaah'd.   Here are some of the vignettes and displays I have done.  Everyone was done by shopping the house.  Nothing new was purchased.  Porch   Front porch entry.   This arrangement sits on a table between the 2 front porch rockers. Foyer ...
