Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

I've seen on a few blogs where folks have found some really cute items for the home at Tractor Supply Company!  Well, we had one open about 4 miles from my house a couple of weeks ago, and they are having their grand opening celebration this weekend.  We went in to get dog food.  They had the kind our dogs love 50# for $18.00.  We bought 200#. Since we were there anyway, I decided I would look at their home decor items.  I was pleasantly surprised!! They had lots of empty space on the shelves where folks got there before me, but they had two of these chicken wire cloches left.  Cutest little thing! It holds twine, and a little pair of snips to cut off what you need.  I just had to bring one home with me.  I've bought several pieces recently made of chicken wire.  I was happy to add this to my collection. I got this basket lined with burlap at my favorite consignment shop, and filled it with a small arrangement I already had. ...

Here is the Easter vignette I created on the entry table.  The pencil sketch was done in 1992 by Barbara Bosworth, and is a gift from a former coworker.  The verse is:  "I am the Resurrection and the Life, does thou believe?" The sketch tells the story of the death and resurrection of Christ. This morning I had a few errands to do, so I stopped in at a yard sale being held to benefit the children of Nicaragua.  It was quite a good sale, and I came away with a few things.  Basket, $.25, garden tool, $1, and mitre box, $1, so I spent $2.25. I like the markings on the mitre box and thought about leaving it the way I found it, but my love of white paint got the best of me. I taped off the markings and sprayed a very light coat of white paint over it -- only one coat.  The wind was blowing, so I didn't really try for complete coverage.  I used a jagged piece of masking tape to cover the markings and like the way it turned out.  Once it dried, I brought it into the basement and sanded it off, and hit it lightly with Annie Sloan Dark Wax.  I like the way it looks on my mantel.  I switched out the picture I had as a backdrop on the mantel, to this half moon one found last year at a consignment shop.  I placed my little dollar tree birds...

I took the day off from work and stopped in at a favorite consignment shop.  They had some great buys and I saw lots of things I liked, but I only brought one item home with me. I only gave $19.00 for it, marked down from $29.00. Couldn't decide where I wanted to hang this, so I sat it on the mantel for now.  I like the change.  This shows the entire mantel. Added items to the wire basket, beads, seashell, etc.   The spots on the windows is rain, not dirt!  :) I decided to change up the jelly cupboard.  I'd had the yellow canister set on top of the cupboard with a yellow plate, and a picture with yellows. I decided to put the canister set inside the cupboard and take some of the other items out.  Here's what I came up with.     While I was at it, I changed out the arrangement on the table in the entryway.
