Things I Couldn't Resist

I've been hitting the Good Will way too often, and have a BUNCH of new stuff to show you.  I absolutely have to have a yard sale before cold weather gets here because I have too much stuff.  Not any of my latest items will be for sale, but some of those 20+ bins in the basement are going to have to GO!! Here are the items I've gotten recently. This is one of my favorite items ever!! The back says it is the artists first painting lesson in 1975.  It is beautifully done, and looks great.  These photos don't show the true color of the frame.  it is a medium brown wood, not at all gold.  I still don't quite understand my new camera, so bear with me til I get it figured out. I carried this around with me one day, then put it back, but it was still there the next time I went, so I bought it.  Here's how it is being used. It's part of a fall vignette on the coffee table. I think this could be used on a desk to hold mail,...

Guest Bath

I wanted to show you what is being used for a table in my guest bath.  I got the idea from The Bold Abode here .  Gwen painted her table in a "bold" color.  Mine is white, but the idea is the same.    It takes up little space, and has items a guest might need in plain view which is so important! What do you think?  I really liked the idea, so I just copied! Here is the tour of the guest bath. It's a small room with no window and a little hard to photograph. These topiary pictures have moved from the powder room to this bath. The walls are Gallery Beige, a taupe color.  I copied this idea from someone's blog too, but can't remember who. I like the little pitcher hanging inside the frame. Hand creams and lotions are kept in plain view as well. I don't remember where I got the shower curtain. This shows a mirror and picture both from Kirkland's.  The lamp was found at a consignment shop....

A Christmas Topiary

I've had this chalk-like topiary for several years.   I have used it in several rooms of our home . I decided I'd like to change it this year. So out came the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Olde White.   The topiary required no preparation. I painted the entire piece with ASCP, added some dark AS wax, and this is the result. I chose not to completely cover it in paint so it only took a minute or two to brush it on. After giving it a few minutes to dry, I brushed the wax on, wiped the whole thing down and viola! I tied a simple Christmas ribbon around it and am enjoying the change.  By painting it this way, it reminds me of how snow looks on the shrubbery. Hope you have a wonderful day.
