Things I Couldn't Resist

I've been hitting the Good Will way too often, and have a BUNCH of new stuff to show you.  I absolutely have to have a yard sale before cold weather gets here because I have too much stuff.  Not any of my latest items will be for sale, but some of those 20+ bins in the basement are going to have to GO!!

Here are the items I've gotten recently.

This is one of my favorite items ever!!

The back says it is the artists first painting lesson in 1975.  It is beautifully done, and looks great.  These photos don't show the true color of the frame.  it is a medium brown wood, not at all gold.  I still don't quite understand my new camera, so bear with me til I get it figured out.

I carried this around with me one day, then put it back, but it was still there the next time I went, so I bought it.  Here's how it is being used.

It's part of a fall vignette on the coffee table.

I think this could be used on a desk to hold mail, but I'm using it to hold a hand towel in the guest bath.

This may get a makeover, but I wanted you to see it.  I may paint it white, and put a french graphic on it at some point. It sits on the guest bed.

I thought this was the cutest pitcher/teapot.  I love the colors, but man it was dirty!  It does make a great flower pot for fall though.

It's in the sunroom.

Another pitcher, reminds me of delft, but it is unmarked.

Another lovely picture, in the sunroom.

I like how it works with this display.

Found this biscotti jar, but I'm using it for long grain rice.

Had to get this for the monogram, and it will work well in the blue guest bath.

Found this topiary.  It has poinsettias, but the colors make it hard to tell.  It will make a great piece for Christmas decor.

I don't believe this is milk-glass but I loved the shape, and it's white, so it works in my cabinet.

So, I've found a number of pretties recently, too many in fact, but some things just shouldn't be left in the store, especially the painting!  It is just lovely.

Take care, have a nice long weekend, and happy shopping!!

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Christmas tablecloth, consignment sale. ...

What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after". Here is a collection of vases and crystal pitchers .   These were all gifts except the smallest one in the front and the one to the right of it. China and a consignment shop cake plate.  The china was formerly my MILs. More china . This little fairy lives here with her 2 sisters. They ...

Market Basket

Finally....I made it to Hen's Nest, my fave consignment shop.  I bought several things, but I just have to show this to you right now.  I'll share the other items later.  I stopped by the Dollar Tree on my way home and grabbed some fall flowers, and quickly poked them into the basket.  I didn't even cut the little bushes apart.  I just spread the stems out and voila! I'll do it right soon, I was just too impatient to show you the basket. Just look at this wonderful basket!! Basket Cost: $8.99....whoo hoo! Flowers: $1.00 per bunch x 7 = $7.00 Already had the burlap garland. Does anyone know what the P&G stands for?  The shop owner thought that maybe it was a grocery store name and she doesn't think it's very old.  It has a handle, it's just covered with flowers.  Don't you love the way they did the letters on the front?  I don't care if it's vintage or not, it just has character, and I can think of may uses. Lo...
