Market Basket

Finally....I made it to Hen's Nest, my fave consignment shop.  I bought several things, but I just have to show this to you right now.  I'll share the other items later.  I stopped by the Dollar Tree on my way home and grabbed some fall flowers, and quickly poked them into the basket.  I didn't even cut the little bushes apart.  I just spread the stems out and voila! I'll do it right soon, I was just too impatient to show you the basket.

Just look at this wonderful basket!!

Basket Cost: $8.99....whoo hoo!
Flowers: $1.00 per bunch x 7 = $7.00
Already had the burlap garland.

Does anyone know what the P&G stands for?  The shop owner thought that maybe it was a grocery store name and she doesn't think it's very old.  It has a handle, it's just covered with flowers.  Don't you love the way they did the letters on the front?  I don't care if it's vintage or not, it just has character, and I can think of may uses.

Lovely!!

If anyone has a clue what the P&G stands for, please let me know!
I'll be sharing some fall goodness this week, so be sure to come back by.

Come to these parties for lots of eye candy!

  1. I am going to guess Proctor & Gamble, makers of laundry soap and lots of other cleaning supplies.

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...
