Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

If you've followed a while, you know how much I love aqua in any shade! I have some in most rooms of my home, and am adding the color to the rooms that don't have any.  I think after this it will only be the guest room, which will be easily remedied. This makeover as usual, was made using items I found at Good Will.  As my husband was unloading a truckload of donations, I went in the front door, and came out with more stuff!  My granddaughter and I had a yard sale (in the basement) on Saturday, and did pretty well for a five hour sale.  We went over $100, and it was mostly small items I was getting rid of.  My husband cleaned out his closet while we were having the sale, so a mound of clothing did not sell, but Good Will certainly got a lot of good donations.  Lots of his clothes had the tags still on them.  There was actually an entire load on a Ford F-250! I've been hitting the Good Will stores frequently in the last 3 weeks, and have bought some neat treasures. The plate and the lampshade are recent finds. Yesterday I purchased the vase on the right and the 2 pictures The artist, Abigail makes her art from pressed flowers. The lamp shades came in a package of 2.  The  shades were marked @ 5.99 ea., new in packages.  So they were new for $2.92. I liked the frames, too. I admire this artists work!  So pretty.  This vase was found some time ago, and the two of them work fine together. The look showing the wall, a sort of gallery look. This cabinet is called a hall cabinet and was made nearby my home.  I've managed to keep it the original color. Last week I found a large package or round balls in aqua and white. As promised, on Friday, we went to Dothan, Alabama to shop. It's only 42 miles over there.  We first checked out the Good Will which was a total failure! Nothing but clothing and a few glass pieces. No furniture, and we were specifically looking for a table that would work to hold a huge OLD TV in one of the guest rooms. We visited Lowe's for a few things we needed, then went to an antique mall that we both loved, Land of Cotton.   It was chock full of treasures, and we could have spent all day in there.  On about the fourth aisle, I found a table with the perfect measurements for the place we wanted to place the TV. It is dark turquoise, which goes with the bedding.  It was $100, a little more than I had planned to spend, but perfect, so we bought it.  After that we had a wonderful meal at Red Lobster, then headed home.  We were gone the whole day, but really enjoyed it. In a recent post, I showed you the sofa table I painted and moved to the dining room.   As we all know, when you move one thing, it causes a domino effect. I had placed an old crate in the powder room to hold a lamp, and extra tissue, etc., because I wanted the table that was in there for a night stand in my bedroom.  If you're lost, that's o.k. I was in a favorite consignment shop for some retail therapy, when I spotted this gorgeous little table on sale for $29.99.  I really, really tried to walk out without it, but if there is one thing I've learned, when I see something I really want, I will think about it until I go back and get it.  So....I just went ahead and bought it, (to save myself a trip back), and I love it!! It is a lovely distressed, aqua color, with a glass top, and is some type of metal!  I love the scrolls, and it adds a touch of elegance to the powder room. It may seem a little early for some of you, but I was so tired of the snowmen, snowflakes, and wintery decor that I decided to go ahead and decorate for Valentine's Day.  Pops of red seem warm and cheery. The first thing I usually change for any occasion, is the mantel. I used my consignment shutter, some Dollar Tree flowers and heart-shaped vases, candles, a baske (recent consignment find) and updated my Christmas/Winter wreath from the front door, by adding a Dollar Tree red tinsel heart to it, and hanging it on the mirror above the mantel.  The only new items are the red doilies (Michael's) - I think they were $1.00 each, the red basket, and the red tinsel heart attached to the wreath. This wreath was decorated with green ball ornaments during Christmas.  I removed the ornaments, and hung a snowman in the center until I brought it in and attached the heart.  So this wreath has already been recycled twice.   I spent ve...
