Fall Touches in the Kitchen

Just checking in to show you a little fall vignette in the kitchen.  This was made from items I already had.   The caddy was a thrift find.  The jar held pasta sauce.  I filled it with acrylic pumpkins from last year, and topped the jar with burlap tied with jute string. The pitcher was a gift from a friend. The napkins and plate were also thrifty finds from last year.   I also made a slight change to the mantel. I found this lovely "Welcome" sign at Michael's on clearance for $6.99, so I moved the tray full of pumpkins to another area and placed the sign on the mantel. I'm partying at Funky Junk Interiors Saturday Nite Special.  Stop by for a visit!!

Cozy Corner and Little Brown Jug

Sharing a corner decorated for fall. This is the scene when you walk through the front door. This is the table that I used ASCP and the dark wax to refinish.   I used the wax heavily and really like the way it turned out.  The shelf under the picture was added.  It is extremely light weight and is held up with sticky velcro.  The wire pumpkin and the flower arrangement were in my storage bin from last year.   I like that this area is decorated all the way up the wall.  Note the detail on the shelf.  I've had this for a number of years.  I think I bought it at a place called Grand Harbor Imports, which went out of business.  They had the neatest decorative items. NOW........... A Hearth Vignette (Ode to the Little Brown Jug) Since the hearth provides a flat surface, I decided to decorate it too!!  (lol) I remember this old jug sitting in an outbuilding when I was growing up.  So you know it's OLD!  Let's just say it's "seasoned".  Looks like it has had

Good Luck at Good Will

I made a trip to Good Will on my lunch hour one day this past week.  It was a good day for going.  They had lots of things that were good.  Two lovely white cabinets were at the front of the store and another lady and I made a bee line to them.  Ugh.....they were already sold.  They were both in excellent condition.  There were also two black book cases and I kinda wish I had bought one of them to use at the lake house.  But I didn't.  I didn't come away empty handed though.  I went  to the fabrics bin.  Whoo-hoo.  Did they have some goodies!  Look what I got for around $7.77.  Everything in this photo.  The bag of trim included the huge tassel and was around $4.00.  The candle was $2, (never lit), Anjou Pear,  and the candle ring was about $2, and I got a senior discount.  The candle ring looks rough, but I'll work on it and make it better.  I've already re-worked the candle ring by adding some more leaves to it and straightening it out a little.  Made myself a fall

Table Transformation with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

I've been looking for a small table to use at the lake for my computer.  I like to blog sitting on the love seat there, but I needed a table to use to set the computer on.  I saw several I liked at a favorite shop on last week,  but didn't buy one.  I decided I would use the ASCP on one I already had.  I bought this table several years ago at K Mart.  They had priced it wrong and went ahead and sold it to me for either 15 or 19 dollars.  It was supposed to be $49 I believe, but someone had put a big sign above it marked at the lower price.  When I told them they sent someone back to check and found the lower price sign so they honored that price.  I've used it for lots of things, but mostly in the sun room.  Recently it has been on the screened porch.  It had gotten stained over the years.  You can see the corner of the table in this picture.  It had a  floral design painted on the table top and also on the drawer front. I painted one good coat of Old White on the table

God's Green Acres

Hubby and I rode the 'mule' (kawasaki vehicle) up on the hill at the back of our house Sunday afternoon and I shot a few pictures for you.  In some of them you can see the mountains just North of us.   (All pictures can be enlarged by clicking).   The gray house is ours.   The other two are neighbors.  See the mountains in the distance. A little closer view.  You can see the huge lawn mower hubby uses to keep all this grass mowed.  This view captures my daughter's home.   Front view of daughter's home.    This is a shot of the front of our house as you come down the drive.  Hubby keeps all this grass mowed, and an additional 3 acres that belongs to our grandson.    A couple more shots from 'out back'. Nothing like living in the North Georgia Mountains!!!

A Little Tweak Here and There

Having 'lived' with last week's fall decor for a few days now, I decided to make a few tweaks. I know you never do that!  :)  Remove a few things here, add something there..... You know the routine! I decided the table in the family room had too much on it.  I placed a pumpkin under the cloche rather than the candle I started with. Then I added a charger to the mantel to give it another layer. Next, I placed the pheasant picture on one of the bookcases flanking the fireplace. I re-arranged the tiered stand by placing the green pumpkin on it.   I moved some things around on the bookcase in the dining room too.  Brought this little fellow up from the basement and sat him in the sunroom. See that big smile on his face!! I hope all of you have a wonderful week! I'm joining Show Off Your Cottage Monday at House in the Roses Table Top Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life

Fall Tour Dining Room, Sun Room and Breakfast Room

I'm back to welcome you to tour the dining, breakfast, and sun rooms. Lots of photos.  Please relax and enjoy! Dining Room I decided to use the bird fabric for a runner rather than a wall hanging.  Here it grounds the tiered stand laden with autumn pumpkins, stems, and corn.  This arrangement sits on a tall hand made/painted stool.  The pottery depicts southwestern scenes.  The colors blend in with the other fall decor.  The side table is decked out for fall. Fall on the bookcase. Breakfast Room   Apothecary jar filled with ceramic pumpkins.   Mr. Rooster looks proud in his fall colors.  More autumn color.  Here is the arrangement for the breakfast table. I got this dough bowl on Ebay.  I was a little disappointed in the size of it , but it's good for decorating.   Sun Room   I removed the sea shells and turquoise items from the wire basket, and added acorns purchased at Kirkland's last year.  The wire pumpkins are place card holders.   The sun is castin
