Table Transformation with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

I've been looking for a small table to use at the lake for my computer.  I like to blog sitting on the love seat there, but I needed a table to use to set the computer on.  I saw several I liked at a favorite shop on last week,  but didn't buy one.  I decided I would use the ASCP on one I already had.  I bought this table several years ago at K Mart.  They had priced it wrong and went ahead and sold it to me for either 15 or 19 dollars.  It was supposed to be $49 I believe, but someone had put a big sign above it marked at the lower price.  When I told them they sent someone back to check and found the lower price sign so they honored that price.  I've used it for lots of things, but mostly in the sun room.  Recently it has been on the screened porch.  It had gotten stained over the years.  You can see the corner of the table in this picture.  It had a  floral design painted on the table top and also on the drawer front.

I painted one good coat of Old White on the table and got terrific coverage.  Then I took a sanding block and sanded a few areas to let the green show through.  It really looks so much better to me.  I haven't glazed or waxed it yet.  Not sure I will.

I'm keeping it in the sun room until our next trip to the lake.  I think I'm really going to enjoy having it for my computer and all my 'stuff'.

I am not a good painter at all, but I have really good luck with ASCP.  I've used about 1/2 of my quart and have redone 2 tables, a bookcase, and several small items.  I just love this paint!!!
Have you tried ASCP yet??  If not, get you some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and start painting!

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

Bar Stools Makeover

I'm still receiving therapy by keeping my hands busy, plus today I ran quite a few errands.  It's been a crying day for me today.  Just so much to worry about.  It seems like sometimes everything is just messed up, and there's nothing we can do to fix any of it.   Night before last, I painted the bar stools.  I've had them since 2000, and they were nice, but I was just in the mood to paint them!!  The form of the stools had a textured bronze color, the seats were beige with the fleur de lis design, and the wood across the back was brown.  Well, needless to say, they got their own coat of chalk paint in white, the seats covered in blue and white, and the boards across the back are blue.  I have the fabric to make matching placemats and napkins, but today was not the day to try to sew, for me.  I'm just too nervous.  In fact, I didn't do anything creative today except switch out the curtains in the powder room that I only made and p...
