Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

I have a collection of small benches that I like to use in my sunroom.  They are  prone to get painted and distressed at any time.  Such was the case recently with the smallest.  I decided I wanted to add a transfer to the top of it.  I also had some new ASCP in Louis Blue that I wanted to try.   I dry brushed only the top with the ASCP which dries very quickly. I stenciled the larger bench with a home made stencil some time ago.  That bench has been about five or six different colors.  I wanted the grays and whites to show through, so this is the way I left it.  I gathered my supplies together (below).  Crown graphic from the Graphics Fairy. First I painted Mod Podge on the center of the bench, then on the transfer.  I then placed the graphic on the bench where I wanted it to be.  I must have gotten too much Mod Podge because the paper wouldn't pull off very well, and my attempts seemed to make it worse...

Hope your Easter was fabulous!  Ours was great.  I made lunch for the family, so there were six of us.  Menu:  Baked ham, potato salad, corn, green beans, homemade biscuits, banana pudding, french coconut pie, and of course, sweet southern tea!!   Since Easter is over for another year, it is time to box up the bunnies.  So while hubby is mowing the lawn, I've taken Easter out of the Spring decor.   First, I moved my plants outside to the screened porch.  (I can bring them back in at night if we have the threat of frost).  That allowed me to play with my benches and stools in the sunroom. Wow! I didn't realize how many projects I did in 2012.  Way too many to show them all, so I will just share the ones I like best!   This olden plant stand was dark brown wood, full of scratches and water marks.  Here it is with a coat of home made chalk paint, and a little distressing.  Now it's in the guest bath holding the necessities. I painted the bottom of my Mother's old Hoosier cabinet.  I don't have the top part of the cabinet, but I have really enjoyed using this!  It's in my mudroom. I added a frenchy label to this old box I found at a consignment shop, and filled it with blue Ball jars and other goodies. I painted the 8-track tape box below, and added mod podged frenchy labels to it. I painted the larger stool white and added a fleur de lis stencil to it. I've been tweaking the sun room today.  It's one of my favorite places to change up.  I've moved the little table that I just gave a makeover into the sun room, and it holds a tiny bench I bought at Chic or Shabby Consignment several months ago. I added some bling by bringing some garden decor to the area.  The blue bird is from Michael's.  The lamp was moved from the powder room.  This is a favorite spot to sit and look out at the view.   Since I was already in the sun room, I decided to change the table settings just a little.  I switched out the green dinner plates for these in blue and white.  They are American Limoges, Bridal Bouquet.
