Nature Just Outside the Door

This year I used a spring wreath I made a couple of years ago.  It's the one with yellow daffodils.  Nothing says spring quite like daffodils.  Right? Unless it's birds nesting?  That says spring to me for sure. Or a bird nesting in your wreath on your front door!! From this view one would think it was meant to be there, maybe a faux nest But not so!  Very real indeed!! Mama bird is very scarce.  I hope she hasn't abandoned the nest.  She laid one of the eggs one day, and the other the next day. I hope she is caring properly for her little hatchlings. Maybe she's just a wee bit shy.  Needless to say, we are very careful when we open and close the front door.  Isn't it a pretty nest? Some of My Current Favorites

Hi everyone, I've done it again.  I just can't get back on a regular schedule of posting.  But I did gather a few photos showing some of my favorite finds and also favorite areas in the house.  So for lack of much to post about, this will have to suffice for a few days anyway.  Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the Spring.  It's not a lot like Spring here, we have cool temps and flash flood warnings all night tonight. You may remember this small table that I have in the family room.  I changed it some and added a blue bird to the cloche on the bottom shelf. I placed photos of my grandchildren on the coffee table in a tray found at GW.  I like the depth of the tray and the leather handles. Except for the Easter items, I left the mantel as I had it before. The items on the entry table were changed to spring items.  I had the pink and white arrangement from GW last year.  It was very dirty when I purchased it, but a good scrub and a little whi

Fabric From Good Will & What I Made

Recently I found some toile fabric at Good Will in a bundle with several other beautiful pieces.  I mentioned on my last post that I was trying to decide where I would use it.  The mud room and joining laundry room won out.  I already have a blue rug in the mud room, so I measured, and made very simple curtains for the rooms.  I have a french door in the mud room, and made on  long curtain for it.  That way, I can fold it upwards, pin with clothes pins for a roman shade look, and to let in light in the day time.  Here are the photos of the fabric and the windows in the rooms.                 The scenery on the fabric would work great in a farmhouse decorated home.                                 A lady feeding chickens, cows, Birds flying over the pasture area with grazing horses. This fabric would also have made a great table cloth for a long farm house table.  I have a piece large enough left to make a small table round, or runner.  I will probably make a runner f

Moving Things Around and Spring Mantel

I've gotten so lazy about blogging.  I just don't have a lot going on.  Since I live on one income now, I don't do as much shopping, because I don't need a single thing, and I have more than enough of everything.  I sit in my chair quite a bit and watch a bit of YouTube.  I read some and have been thinking for days I would start making some drapes for the bonus room, garage, and the mud/laundry room.  I found some beautiful toile in navy and white and could use it in either of the rooms and there is a large quantity.  I'll end up making them in a few days, I hope, if I can get off my butt!  I have moved small items around in the living area and sunroom and breakfast room.  I removed the easter items today, and rearranged the mantel. I kept the crosses on the mantel, added the trifold as a backdrop, added an angel.  I like the lightness of this look. I found this vase of sunflowers at Good Will, and knew they would be fine on the screened porc
