Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

Today, I'm taking you on a partial tour of the house all decorated for Christmas. On the front door, I have a spray rather than a wreath. Just inside, in the foyer, is this piece that was given to the men at church for Father's Day.  I kept the 3 crosses on the inside, and draped, garland, poinsetias, and lights on the hooks on the front. Next to the foyer is the dining room, where the tree is located. The tree is new, and was the display tree at Lowe's, so I bought it already put together, fluffed,etc.  I came home and all I had to do was decorate it. Touches of red brighten the china cabinet.  I inserted red ornaments and berries into various dishes.    Accross from the front door is the hall tree.  I have an angel tree topper on it this year and love the way it looks there. I have several tables in the dining room that are great for decorating, the tea cart, a side table, and the bombe table. Tea Cart Of course I've been tweaking everything, trying to get it like I want.  Above is the first try on decorating the tea cart.  Below shows it with the changes I made. You can see in the photo before this one, that I've added ornaments to the 3-tiered tray.  Much better, I think with the addition of green.                          I moved the chair I recently painted to a corner in the dining room, to hold this lantern. I bought these picks and ribbon at Dollar Tree for a total of $3.00.  It was an easy project to make this to attach to the lantern. I typically wait until after Labor Day to start my fall decorating.  Yesterday while in Wal Mart to pick up a prescription, I browsed through the fall decor, and saw these fabulous tablecloths.  I have recently noticed a couple of bloggers hanging table cloths for drapes.  And at $9.97 for each of these panels, it's a great bargain. Besides, the design just spoke to me!!  I haven't gone all out getting ready for fall, but I brought in different table runners, some rusty colored flowers, and changed the dining room from pinks and blues to rust colors. Today, I'm sharing my Christmas dining room.   I'm using my drop cloth table cloth as a base, and a piece of toile remnant from the clearance bin at Wal Mart ($2.00) as a runner. For the centerpiece, I used my white cake stand as a pedestal, and added a milk glass vase filled with turquoise and silver ornaments.  I made these turquoise burlap trees a couple weeks ago.    My place setting is simple and uncluttered, only a silver charger and white plate, white napkins ( I made), and silver napkin rings, with a clear goblet.   Simple and elegant. I changed the napkin rings  when I found a bag of these candle rings at a consignment shop.  At least that's how the tag identified these. I like the snow flake baubles on these, and decided they would look good as napkin rings.  Below, you can see them used as a candle ring. It makes me happy to find items at different places that...
