Visit to Sweet Tea

I've mentioned the Consignment Shop called "Sweet Tea" that I go to frequently on my lunch hour.  I visited today and came away with a wonderful urn with cherubs on each side. It was only $10.00.  I had been trying to decide what to do with the mantel now that Easter is over, so for now this is where the "new" urn is.  As usual,  changes will probably be made before the weekend is over.  I just love the shabby distressed look of the urn.  Of course you recognize the "blog-land" candle holders.  I added two little cherubs to the display.  I am linking up to the following parties at . Thrifty Groove , and My Romantic Home .   Be sure to come by for a look at other thrifty treasures!

Switching Tables

I've been wanting a side table of some kind in my dining room.  I looked a couple of places on my lunch hour yesterday, but decided to just move things around at home and place a "hall cabinet" in the dining room. This cabinet was in the breakfast nook.  It fit the spot perfectly, so it is now in the dining room.  I placed several pieces of milk glass, a lamp from Kirklands and other thrift finds on the table.  The picture was already there.  I really like the coziness this added to the dining room. I moved the "sofa" table from the guest room to the breakfast nook.  I had it there once before and really liked having the extra space for serving.  Everything on the table is a thrifty find.  The lamp is about 30 years old, purchased with S&H green stamps.  The shade was found in an antique shop.  This tower shelf unit was in a corner in the dining room, but now resides in the powder room.  It is a great place to store extra tissue, etc.  I'm liking i

Ever-changing Vignettes

Sharing some of the "moves" I've made this week-end.  I'm so  OCD.  Can't leave things alone.  Oh well, that's how some of us roll.  :)  Above is what the dining room table looks like now.   This is how it looked before. I changed the vintage table in the sunroom from this: To this: I moved this gate replica from one wall to the window area in the sunroom.  I bought this a number of years ago at a store called Grand Harbor Imports.  I love the shabby look it has.  This table belonged to one of my grandmothers.  It was painted a very dark brown.  I sanded it and repainted it years ago.  I did the ivy stencil also.  I plan to change it soon.  It is on a wall in the foyer so it got re-arranged. I will be linking to the following parties this week. Thrifty Finds

You will never believe what I found at Dollar General today!!!  A home decor book.  The kind you see in Lowe's that usually sell for $18.00 and up.   Drum roll..........  $7.00!  Now you know how I love home decor books.  I have quite a collection and in fact this is the 3rd one I've bought this week.  I got 2 more at Good Will for $2.50 each.  They are older though and not nearly as current as this one.  So check out your DG and see if you can find these books!  The topic is how to arrange your collections.  It's full of great ideas! While in Good Will Thursday at lunch, I found a piece of fabric, almost 3 yards for $3.53. It had already been laundered.  I used it to recover the cushions on my screened porch.  I failed to take before pictures, but they were white with a beige square and DIRTY!!!! They look so much cleaner now.  I'm proud of how they turned out.  I simply cut around the cushions, and sewed seams on each end leaving them like an envelope so I ca

Some Frugal Finds and Tweaking a Vignette

I haven't bought very much lately, but did pick up a couple of things last week at a favorite consignment shop.  I got this plate for $4.00.  This candle holder was only $1.50.  Couldn't pass it up at that price.  Here it is in a vignette on the coffee table. The glass has a green tint.   As usual I've been changing things up a little.   You've seen the bombay type chest in my family room many times.  This past weekend, I decided to  add something for a little more interest. I've had this statute for a long time.  Bought it some years ago at Kirkland's.  It has three angels around the column, and the top has a place to hold something. I really like the way it looks here and am enjoying it a lot. I will be linking to Diann at the Thrifty Groove for Thrifty Things Friday Strut your stuff Spring and Easter at http://www.somewhatsimple.com Show and Tell Friday at Romantic Home Please join in all these parties for great inspiration and ideas!!

Favorite Cupboards

Today I am sharing my favorite cupboards and will join in the party at Note Songs .  Be sure to stop by for this fun party.  Sheila is so sweet and would love for you to drop in. I have several favorite cupboards. First is the little jelly cupboard that belonged to my mother in law. Next up is my china cabinet in the dining room.  I not only use it for storing china, the bottom and drawers hold linens, silver, etc., and I use decorating accessories inside on the shelves as well. I can't forget the pie safe that belonged to my sweet mother.  I use it to hold crystal and depression glass.  . My corner cabinet bought in the 70's holds china and a few 'pretties' Hope you've enjoyed looking through some of my cupboards.  I can't wait to see what you have in yours.  :) Also joining Marty for her Tabletop Tuesday party.  Please come by there for LOTS of inspiration!!!
