You all must think that all I ever do is move things around, and you would be right. I've been on a roll the past few days. Yesterday morning, I started early moving things around.  I moved the secretary to the dining room, which required the Bombay table to be moved to the window area, so for good measure, I switched the tea cart to another corner. All the accessories, got scrambled around as well.  One of the neatest things that came from all this shuffling about is the vignette on the top of the secretary.  I shuffled pieces here and yonder until I was happy.  Love, love the combination in this vignette! I love having the secretary over here and every single thing in this vignette is thrifted or from GW, except for the art.  It fits perfectly under the artwork in this spot.  Once I added the GW lamp, it looked so much better.  Then the GW 3-tiered tray sat there empty overnight, but I took some clutter to the basement today and came across...

I told you about my sister, cousin, and I finding our Grandmother's home and going through it.  There was part of a window frame lying in the floor of one of the rooms, that I brought home with me.  It had no panes, and only one piece of wood left that would have held a glass pane in.  I didn't remove that one piece of wood, and decided to try to decorate the frame in some way. After scrubbing years of dirt and webs off the frame, I set it outside to dry.  Once dry, I brought it into the basement where I store my stash, and just started using things I had to give life to this old frame. First, I added a panel of old lace I've had for probably 25 years to the back with staples. See that one piece of wood where a pane would have been?  It's really in there well!! I don't know if it's the cooler weather, the dreary skies, or what, but I've been in the mood to do crafts this week.  I've done some painting, I've refurbished 3 Christmas wreaths, (you'll see those later)  made a new Christmas wreath, and learned to make these little rosettes that I've attached to everything!  These are so simple, and You Tube videos are everywhere showing how to make all kinds.  That's where I found out how to do these.  They are made from fabric squares that I found at HL for $1.39 each.  I've made 4 rosettes, and have enough for about another dozen.  This one is very simple and quick to make.  I glued it to the welcome sign. I made this one using 2 patterns and attached the two pieces together.  It is tied on to the candle with twine. Here is a close up.  These are a little time consuming, but I love the outcome. I'm busy tweaking some of my original Fall decor.  I started with just a small amount of color on the dining room table. I had planned to stop with just this, but then decided to use a table cloth I found last year at a consignment shop.  I removed the drop cloth/burlap runner, and bunched up the table cloth in the center of the table.  I also added a small black dough bowl filled with flowers/leaves, to the vignette.  I kept the candlesticks too.    Here is the more colorful vignette. The colorful cloth works well to anchor the vignette. I kept the sideboard as I decorated it a while ago, simply adding some acorns to the basket, and a fabric pumpkin I made last year to the end of the table.   The burlap wreath I made last year got a colorful update with the orange mums.   The bookcase got a few Fall touches. I changed up the vignette on the breakfast table recently.  I had been using a small trug to hold S/P, napkins, and other table essentials.  I had painted the pink trug white, and applied graphics to it. It had been on the table for quite some time.  It was time for a change.   I gathered some colorful objects together and filled this basket. All items were consignment finds with the exception of the hen which I bought at Ross.   Isn't she so sweet? The colors blend well together. While in the breakfast nook, I made a quick addition to the pie safe.  This lovely plate is also a consignment find. I'm liking the gold, green, and red tones in the vignette, and on this plate. Lots of folks in blog land are adding stripes to furniture, tables, fabric, and all kinds of things.  I have added stripes to a couple of items that I want to share with you. This table belonged to my paternal grandmother.  I barely remember her.  I do remember using this table like a desk as a little girl.  It was dark brown.  Years later, I started sanding the top and went through multiple layers of paint.  Even an old newspaper sheet was underneath all the paint.  I had used a stripper though, and the paper was ruined, so I don't know why it was there.   When I first started blogging, I was introduced to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  This table was the first item I painted with it (Olde White).  I was getting the feel of the paint and dark wax, and ended up waxing it very heavily.  I decided I liked the "stripped" look that the wax brought to the table, so I left it that way.
