Life Goes On

I went to bed before 9 last night with the intention of watching the latest episodes of "A Place to Call Home"  (Acorn TV).  Maybe 15 minutes into it, I was falling asleep, so I turned off the tv and allowed my tired body to rest.  Now I'm awake at 2 AM, so I thought I'd do a blog post and show you how my house looks after the Christmas decor has been put away, well all but a few things that I made slight changes to for the winter season.  I find I'm settling easily and getting accustomed to being on my own.  I've always been able to find things to do, and this time is no different.  I keep myself busy and anytime friends or family want to go somewhere, I go along with them.  Anyway, back to the changes in the house. This is the breakfast nook, and I added the yellow GW placemats to bring out the yellow in the tablecloth.   A GW rooster sits under a cloche as the centerpiece. To have more room in the breakfast nook, I swapped this table from t

The Master of My Own Suite

Had anyone told me less than a week ago that I would be getting divorced, I would have declared them a liar, yet that is what is going on in my life at the present time.  No warning, no reason, blindsided totally.  A few things now that I look back were kinda wierd, and I questioned them, but pat answers were ready and I let it go.  I try not to have ill feelings in my home.  But after a 10 day stay ALONE at the lakehouse, my husband came home last Friday night and informed me he was tired of walking on egg shells.  The only time things get wonky aroun here, is when he criticizes my daughter and grandchildren.  They were here first, and are my heart, and he knew that because we had been friends since 1981!!  But whatever will be, will be.  I won't beg him to stay, in fact I have insisted that he get his belongings out of the living area of the house so I could get on with the things I need to do.  Don't think you can shock me and I will give everything I've worked for away.

Christmas Tour, Part I

Today, I'm taking you on a partial tour of the house all decorated for Christmas. On the front door, I have a spray rather than a wreath. Just inside, in the foyer, is this piece that was given to the men at church for Father's Day.  I kept the 3 crosses on the inside, and draped, garland, poinsetias, and lights on the hooks on the front. Next to the foyer is the dining room, where the tree is located. The tree is new, and was the display tree at Lowe's, so I bought it already put together, fluffed, etc.  I came home and all I had to do was decorate it. Touches of red brighten the china cabinet.  I inserted red ornaments and berries into various dishes.    Accross from the front door is the hall tree.  I have an angel tree topper on it this year and love the way it looks there. Next up is the mantel and other areas in the living room. I've changed the mantel some since I took this photo.  Just a little change or tw
