Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

Today, I decided to dismantle my gallery wall.  Here, you can see how many items I had on the wall, and well, I was just tired of it!! before I simplified it, and here is how it looks now. after A dear friend gave me this picture, and I've had it in several places, but I love it here, above the desk. I've changed a couple of vignettes, on the hall tree, (above), and on the corner table, (below). I redecorated the top of the jelly cupboard by placing this "gate" on top, along with the bird tray and cloches. This stool did hold the bowl, now on the hall tree, so I replaced it with this piece, and the shutters. I bought the pitcher, below, to add to my collection.  I love that it looks like a bird house.  It's from the Kathy Hatch collection. I found this lovely five finger vase at Good Will.  It's a great vintage piece. I also got this book on Depression Glass.  I have quite a bit, and it will be interesting to learn...

I think I have an addiction to shopping Good Will!!  I go in several times a week since it's so close to my house, and cause you never know what you'll miss if you don't go by regularly. Right?  On a recent visit, I found quite a few items that I liked and here are some of the vintage items I found. First up, this sweet lamb planter.  I think it may be a McCoy.  It is heavy, has no markings, but I read where early on they simply placed a paper sticker on their pottery.  I did some research and it looks just like some of the ones shown as McCoy.  Either way, it is definitely old. Then I found this gorgeous bottle.  It seems old to me, and again no markings at all, but the glass has numerous bubbles, especially in the bottom. I found this pitcher to add to my non  collection.  I loved the design. I already had the yellow tin, but loved the green one, which probably isn't old. No way, could I leave this milk ...

I'm having so much fun trying out different decor items on the hall tree I purchased a couple of weeks ago.  See all about it here .  Probably the best bargain I have ever found!! I originally had a small lamp on it, but put this larger lamp on it today. This lamp originally had a brown print shade, but I switched it for this burgundy one, and added a burlap rose I made a while back. I kept the silver coffeepot filled with tulips, and added this plate. (I made these photos with my computer, and am trying out the Fotor Editing Program).  I think I'll like it once I get the hang of it!  :)  PicMonkey has gotten so it crashes everytime I try to use it.  Are any of you having that problem? This year, I am using my Christmas dishes purchased at a consignment sale my daughter held a few years ago.  I think I paid around $20.00 for the whole set, checked on Replacements website, and they would have cost me around $400.00 to purchase.  So it was a fabulous deal. They are Festive Holly, by Nikko.  I have enjoyed decorating with these dishes. I purchased the holly tablecloth from the same lady as the dishes.  It was three or four dollars.  The green glasses belonged to my Mother in law.  The silverware was also bought at the same consignment sale at a steal. The napkins and silver colored chargers are from Wal Mart.  I made the centerpiece by placing some Dollar Tree greenery in this pitcher, I found last year at a consignment shop, and made a bow for the handle from Dollar Tree ribbon. I found the cutest little creamer today!!  So tiny, so full of little craze marks, some chips, but I don't care!  This just adds to it's character.  I just added it to the vignette in the entry.  I'm still using the yellow/blue cloth, so it fits right in! Isn't it so cute??  On this side there is a painting of a window, with a bird and floral designs. The other side has flowers and also a bird.  See those lovely chips? That curvy shape? I've not been able to find any information on it, but it has USA  on the bottom. It just fits perfectly with my entry vignette.  It is about the size of the biggest of the two blue birds. Love my blues and yellows! Every single item on this table was purchased at consignment shops, except the 2 birds, and the faux succulent.    I love the look of these items together, vintage, mixed with just a little new.   Do you have some new finds? We are back home in the mountains after a 9-day stay at the lake house.  On Sunday we sat on the porch enjoying the warmth, and back home we are inside, cozied up to the gas logs! Isn't it always good to get home?  Although, the lake house is home, too, family is in the mountains, so it feels more like home.  To me, especially, since I've lived most of my life here or within a few miles from our home's location. I like to go for a few days, but I'm ready to get back here too. Today, I'm sharing a couple of thrifty finds from before we went to the lake house.
