Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

I think I've said before that the Good Will here in S. GA, is not like ours in N. Georgia.  To begin with, it's small, and the prices are somewhat higher on most items.  They are more like a salvage store because they will have large quantities of certain items, like ladies sandals. They had some that were really cute, new, and for $13.  They had a whole rack of non-stick pans, still with the packaging on the front.  They were $12.99.  It's just quite different. I found a wonderful ceramic dough bowl and fruit at Good Will a few months ago, and have used it on my dining table ever since. Here it is when I had just bought it in the fall. Then at Christmas, I exchanged the fruit for ornaments, and used it like this. So this piece has been on my table for about 4 months!! Nothing stays put that long around here!!  It was time for a change. I hauled out my large wood tool tote, painted white over the blue, added some seed packet graphics on the sides with Mod Podge, stuck in some blue hydrangeas, and voila!  New look!! I decided I needed a runner on the table, so I added this blue one I've had for ages!! While I had the white paint out, I put the second coat on the hutch I shared last week. Once I got the 2nd coat of paint on, I didn't add back the papers I originally had on the backs of the hutch.  I wanted the planked look to show. I've been going to Good Will weekly and for the last few weeks, I haven't found much of anything, but today I hit the jackpot!! I have the bottom part to my mother's old Hoosier cabinet.  My dad for some reason, gave the top away after my mother passed away.  Why?  I have no idea.  The bottom half sat in my basement for years and a few years ago, I cleaned it up, painted it, and brought it upstairs into the mud room.  I use it to store my plastic ware. I would have loved to have found a Hoosier top, but had come to realize that probably would never happen.  I had decided a while back if I could ever run up on a hutch top, I would buy that and sit it on the Hoosier bottom. Well, today was the day!!  I paid $8.98 for this piece!! The top of the hutch at the lake house holds some blue enamelware that I just love.  It belonged to my MIL.  I use a lot of the items that were hers.  This home is where hers was previously, so we kept many of her things.  There is a small boiler and a large dish pan in addition to these pieces.  They are in use right now. I was thinking the other day that I'd like to have a pot rack to hang these from.  Maybe I'll find one that will work there. I really like the design on these casserole dishes.  I love roosters, and the red, white, and blue colors are some of my favorites. My husband's favorite color is blue, so he had already bought blue furniture before we married.  It is like new, so we kept it.  I'm glad blue is coming back in style. Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after".
