I went to bed before 9 last night with the intention of watching the latest episodes of "A Place to Call Home"  (Acorn TV).  Maybe 15 minutes into it, I was falling asleep, so I turned off the tv and allowed my tired body to rest.  Now I'm awake at 2 AM, so I thought I'd do a blog post and show you how my house looks after the Christmas decor has been put away, well all but a few things that I made slight changes to for the winter season.  I find I'm settling easily and getting accustomed to being on my own.  I've always been able to find things to do, and this time is no different.  I keep myself busy and anytime friends or family want to go somewhere, I go along with them.  Anyway, back to the changes in the house. I've been tweaking the sun room today.  It's one of my favorite places to change up.  I've moved the little table that I just gave a makeover into the sun room, and it holds a tiny bench I bought at Chic or Shabby Consignment several months ago. I added some bling by bringing some garden decor to the area.  The blue bird is from Michael's.  The lamp was moved from the powder room.  This is a favorite spot to sit and look out at the view.   Since I was already in the sun room, I decided to change the table settings just a little.  I switched out the green dinner plates for these in blue and white.  They are American Limoges, Bridal Bouquet. Even though I have the salad plates to match, I chose to use the one below so the setting wouldn't be so formal.  These salad plates were a consignment store find, and are by Noritake, made in Ireland, and named Cortland . I have been staying home a lot and haven't bought any new things recently, so I have bee n moving things around.  Imagine that!   I removed the table cloth and place settings from the dining room table.  I wanted to simplify it for a nice change.  I moved the terracotta planter from the side table to the table for a centerpiece, kept the 2 candles, and used two placemats for a runner.  Easy, simple change! I placed a more formal arrangement on this little table.  I love the color it adds to this corner. On this table, I added the fleur de lis plate, and switched out the plant for this one in the cherub urn. I switched out a tall lamp with this one with the large white base, and moved these floral pictures over the table.  I really like this much better than the picture that was there previously. Today I am sharing a few of the projects I did in 2011.  I put away all the Christmas decorations on Monday since I had to go back to work on Tuesday.  The house feels less cluttered.  On to the projects.............. Put chicken wire in the jelly cupboard. Painted the wire chicken white. Tried my hand at using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Wax. More Annie Sloan Made this lamp shade cover from burlap and eyelet trim. Gave this little table a much needed face lift using Annie Sloan Paint. Spray painted and distressed this old table. Painted and distressed this candle holder (was brass and UGLY) Again using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Wax Again used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to update this mirror, formerly black. I brought a few more items out of my fall storage bin and "scattered" them through a couple of rooms.  I hope to be able to get everything like I want it tomorrow or Sunday.  I'm sharing a few vignettes that will very likely change tomorrow.  :) You know how we are.  Gotta try out everything until we get that "yesssss" feeling.   I found this tray at an antique shop yesterday for only $9.00. I filled it with faux pumpkins and gourds .  I may add candles, or some burlap or raffia. The baskets of flowers were bought last year at Kirklands. I have beige pumpkins in vintage sherbert glasses.   Isn't the tray pretty?   Here's a little spot in the bookcase. It's autumn on the front door!   The dining room table is getting more changes this weekend.    Little vignette on the entry table.
