Some of My Current Favorites

Hi everyone, I've done it again.  I just can't get back on a regular schedule of posting.  But I did gather a few photos showing some of my favorite finds and also favorite areas in the house.  So for lack of much to post about, this will have to suffice for a few days anyway.  Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the Spring.  It's not a lot like Spring here, we have cool temps and flash flood warnings all night tonight. You may remember this small table that I have in the family room.  I changed it some and added a blue bird to the cloche on the bottom shelf. I placed photos of my grandchildren on the coffee table in a tray found at GW.  I like the depth of the tray and the leather handles. Except for the Easter items, I left the mantel as I had it before. The items on the entry table were changed to spring items.  I had the pink and white arrangement from GW last year.  It was very dirty when I purchased it, b...

Adding More Blues to the Sunroom

We are back in the mountains now.  We drove all day Sunday. It's a long way to the lakehouse, about 350 miles.  We split the driving when possible (when my sore feet will let me).  I've had chronic gout for a number or months, and now there is a big protrusion on the back of my ankle.  Haven't self-diagnosed that one yet!  :)  I bought a compression ankle support that holds heat in right on the spot that hurts, plus it gives support so that I can walk much better.  Yay!! I had a hair appointment yesterday morning, so I made a quick trip through housewares in our Good Will.  I bought 2 picture frames, a paper towel holder, an adorable mixed media canvas, and a beautiful table cloth.  So, the sun room has some more blue now. I don't believe this tablecloth had been used.  It is spotless, and fills like it has never been laundered. I kept the tablescape simple.  White dishes from Wal Mart, silver ware, blue glasses, and ...

Something New and Early Spring Decor

I know it isn't officially Spring, but the Jonquils are in full bloom around here.  I also noticed Forsythia starting to bloom.  Of course, Mother Nature may decide to sweep through and these tender blooms could be history.  At any rate, I am just absolutely tired of red in my decor.  I'm in the mood for aqua, which rates high on my favorite colors list.  I gathered a bin full of Valentine's decor and asked my husband to take it to the basement at his convenience and got busy adding spring colors. This past Thursday morning, I awoke at 4:00 AM and couldn't go back to sleep, so I got up and started moving things around and doing a little cleaning.  We moved the burgundy recliner to the basement, and replaced it with this piece, a reclining love seat. I've never thought I would like this type of furniture, but I found that I do, so we are going to buy the sofa, and an accent chair. I'll try to sell the old furniture, but if not possible, I will donat...

Revisiting the Sunroom

Of all my rooms, the sun room is probably my favorite.  I like the soft colors, and the outdoor views.  This room has a shabby cottage theme, with lots of birds and flowers.  You may remember my $6.00 makeover of this room.  If not, you can see it here .   I love the sunlight this room gets all morning.  It beams through the windows, making it a warm spot on cooler mornings. We often have our morning coffee here. It's a great place to start the day.  The room sits between the master suite and the screened porch. Vintage table from a local antique shop.  Closet bi-fold door leans against the wall. Display items  on the door, can be changed out seasonally.   french doors to master suite The jelly cupboard holds my collection of pitchers.  A cluster of cloches hold birds in their nests, on top of the jelly cupboard. Here, you can see my collection of rose plates above the windows. ...
