Moving Things Around and Spring Mantel

I've gotten so lazy about blogging.  I just don't have a lot going on.  Since I live on one income now, I don't do as much shopping, because I don't need a single thing, and I have more than enough of everything.  I sit in my chair quite a bit and watch a bit of YouTube.  I read some and have been thinking for days I would start making some drapes for the bonus room, garage, and the mud/laundry room.  I found some beautiful toile in navy and white and could use it in either of the rooms and there is a large quantity.  I'll end up making them in a few days, I hope, if I can get off my butt!  I have moved small items around in the living area and sunroom and breakfast room.  I removed the easter items today, and rearranged the mantel. I kept the crosses on the mantel, added the trifold as a backdrop, added an angel.  I like the lightness of this look. I found this vase of sunflowers at Good Will, and knew they would be f...

Easter Blessings

EASTER IS HERE!!  I've placed a few items throughout the house to honor our Lord for the supreme sacrifice.  Without Him and the crucifixion, we would have no hope for the hereafter. At least that is what I believe. I believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified, buried, and that He is risen and sits beside the Father in Heaven.  That is where my strength comes from.  God gave His ONLY son for us, and He lives today and is our intercessor to the Father. To signify the importance of the season, I have some very special pieces to share with you today. First, the last supper, Belonged to my Mother in Law, This picture hung in our dining room when I was a very little girl.  I'm sure my Mother cut it from a calendar, at least that's the way it looks.  The frame is in horrible condition, so I put a row of Washi tape around the old part, then attached the entire piece to the back of this empty frame I had.  I like it this w...

It's Spring at Shadymont

The birds, bunnies, and flowers have taken over here at Shadymont!  I'm in full Spring/Easter mode.  We've had April Showers all day!  3.5" they say!  Our back pasture looked like a river most of the day!  Inside though, it's Spring!  Peat pots, overflowing with Spring flowers, I've had so much fun painting and decorating the peat pots.  I'm getting some ready to sell when I have my yard sale.  Hopefully in a week or so!  Maybe, this Friday.  I'm not quite sure.  I'd like to have it for 2 days in a row, but on Saturday, there's a Sister get together for some shopping, so I think I'll do that.  Then we plan to go to the lake house next week, so I'm not sure when to schedule it.  I've gathered lots of goodies today to put in my sale.  Stuff that is just taking up space, that I do not use.  So hopefully it will sell. I've even included some of my art work, to see what kind...

Pausing to Remember

We have all been busy making our homes look spring-like.  We've pouffed and fluffed, and brought out the pastels, the bunnies, and eggs.  We need to take a moment  to remember why we celebrate Easter.  The Resurrection. The new birth!  I am showing an Easter vignette I created and shared last Easter. The pencil sketch below was a gift to me from a coworker.   This picture of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane hung in my Mother's dining room when I was growing up.  I believe it may have been a calendar page.  It's still in the same frame. He is Risen!! Happy Easter everyone! Come join: Table Top Tuesday Wow Us Wednesday

More Favorite Vignettes

Thanks to everyone who visited and commented on Favorite Vignettes Part I.  As promised, here is Part II. This arrangement was $1.00 at an indoor yard sale near our S. GA home.  I like it paired with the lamp.  This is an outdoor vignette I created on the screened porch at the lake home.  The little bench, and fairy were from the same sale as the arrangement in the first photo. I purchased the container above, and the runner at a consignment store, and simply placed a floral arrangement I already had in the container.  This vignette sits in the hutch at the lake home.  I painted the wire chicken white, and also some of the wooden eggs. Here is an Easter vignette on the table in the foyer. As you can see, this vignette was created for Pink Saturday back in 2010. Hope you have enjoyed some of my favorite vignettes! Thanks for visiting!! I am linking to A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday Cozy Little ...
