Redware Pottery

This little beverage set has been sitting on top of the kitchen cabinets at the lake house.  I knew it was vintage, but didn't know much else about it.  Well it happens to be glazed brown red ware made in Japan.  It was very popular in the 1940's.  The design is hand painted in a relief painting style called Moriage.  I don't think it's worth a lot of money, but it is in excellent condition.  It belonged to my MIL.  Hope I look this good when I'm 70 years old.  :) Isn't it pretty? The painting is raised.  The orange and brown is great for this time of year. Here it sits on the kitchen table on an old silver tray I painted white.  These are Dollar Tree flowers in an old hobnail vase.  These place mats blend well with the flowers. I'm so glad I thought to get the pottery off the cabinet top and place them on the table. Feathered Nest Friday at: http://frenchcountrycottage.blogspot...
