New Look for the Mantel

After all the red for the last couple months, it is time for more soothing colors.  I created a simple mantel design and really like the calming colors. I kept the picture of my grandchildren, as well as the white shutters. All I added is these three aqua jars, and a little more white. These faux flowers cost me a whole penny!!  How's that for a bargain? My beautiful grandchildren, my heart and soul! That's my current mantel, simple and soothing. Boxing Up The Bunnies

Hope your Easter was fabulous!  Ours was great.  I made lunch for the family, so there were six of us.  Menu:  Baked ham, potato salad, corn, green beans, homemade biscuits, banana pudding, french coconut pie, and of course, sweet southern tea!!   Since Easter is over for another year, it is time to box up the bunnies.  So while hubby is mowing the lawn, I've taken Easter out of the Spring decor.   First, I moved my plants outside to the screened porch.  (I can bring them back in at night if we have the threat of frost).  That allowed me to play with my benches and stools in the sunroom. This is the bench I bought a couple of weeks ago for $12.00.  I just love it and it already had this lovely color and is lightly distressed, so I had to bring it home with me.  I moved it beside my favorite spot to sit and read.  I like the stack of little empty boxes. I moved these two stools to the corner and stacked them, then jus...

A New "Favorite Things" Party

Brenda at Cozy Little House shared that her friend Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage is having a party today for us to showcase favorite things.  Be sure to drop in and share something you love.  I have so many things I love, so I should be able to join in this sweet party for quite some time. Today I am sharing this little wooden box I bought at a consignment shop.  I gave ten dollars for it.  It has been decorated in a few different ways. This is how I first displayed it.  In the living room on the bookcase.

Pops of Aqua

I really like the color aqua, and have added touches of it in my family room.  Nothing overwhelming since I have browns in this room, but a few pops here and there. I bought a wooden box a while back, and had used it on one of the bookcases with my aqua Ball jars inside.  I moved them to the coffee table, added some hydrangeas and added a graphic to the box for a different look. I just taped the graphic on since I don't want to do anything permanent to the box.  The graphic is from Graphics Fairy of course. I already had the aqua partridge on the table, but added an old insulator, and also added paper to the back of an old picture frame I had painted to bring in a couple more pops of aqua. I like the look. Feathering My Nest

I first showed you this old apple crate a few months ago.  The property where we live was once part of an apple orchard .   This crate was found in an old building.  I have been using it on the screened porch.  Yesterday, I was 'piddling' around and decided to bring the crate inside.  I placed it in the sun room beside the rocker.   It's a great place to sit a drink (if I would move my pretties).  It also has room to hold the magazine box. I love the shabby look it adds to the sun room. Next I changed out the center piece on the breakfast table.  This tin was bought at Wal Mart several years ago.  I added the rooster and Home Sweet Home rub on labels.  One more shot of the dining room table.  I've been thinking about how to set the table for March.  Be sure to come back and see what I decide on.  I'll be linking up to the following great parties: Show Off Your Cottage Monday at House in the Roses Table To...

Fall Tour Dining Room, Sun Room and Breakfast Room

I'm back to welcome you to tour the dining, breakfast, and sun rooms. Lots of photos.  Please relax and enjoy! Dining Room I decided to use the bird fabric for a runner rather than a wall hanging.  Here it grounds the tiered stand laden with autumn pumpkins, stems, and corn.  This arrangement sits on a tall hand made/painted stool.  The pottery depicts southwestern scenes.  The colors blend in with the other fall decor.  The side table is decked out for fall. Fall on the bookcase. Breakfast Room   Apothecary jar filled with ceramic pumpkins.   Mr. Rooster looks proud in his fall colors.  More autumn color.  Here is the arrangement for the breakfast table. I got this dough bowl on Ebay.  I was a little disappointed in the size of it , but it's good for decorating.   Sun Room   I removed the sea shells and turquoise items from the wire basket, and added acorns purchased at Kirkland's last year.  The ...
