You Have to See This!

My DAILY Good Will hunt is about to slow down.  My husband is home from the lake today, and we have plenty of yard work to catch up.  I cut the yard while he was gone, but not the entire 4 acres. My daughter has someone to cut her lawn now, and my grandson has sold his property that joined hers, so we are back to a much more manageable area. I took a little drive, about 40 miles to a GW store I had been to two other times.  They had a great selection, and I spent $16.00.  I bought 3 pr. of new pj's, and a beautiful pitcher.  You know I collect them, but I would have bought this one even if I didn't collect. Those were the main purchase, but I also found other items, as well. From the front:  (cost $6 and change (Sr. Discount Day),  No design on the back.  A quick trip to Wal Mart for flowers. I found this green milk glass candle holder (c. 1920) also.  At first I couldn't figure out what it was, but kept researching and found one in blue.

Decorating the Front Porch for Memorial Day

Although Memorial Day isn't officially summer, that's when the pools in our neighborhood get busy, and yard work gets more regular. I did a little weed eating yesterday to help my husband out, and noticed I still had the daffodils wreath on the front door.  Time for a change. I went to the basement to look over what I had and there was a huge red, white, blue one from last year, but I didn't like it.  I dug through my stash and found some thin white ribbon with glitter. So I took the whole wreath apart and re-made it. It's made smaller than the one from last year, and I added some roses. Last year's can be seen here .  I used the same tote dressed out in patriotic colors!  This is a greeting card that I framed last year, so this time, I'm hanging it beside the entry door.  Summer holidays always make us think of family. My little flower garden is doing great.  I'm going tomorrow and get a bird bath for it.  Have a saf

A Beautiful Outdoor Day

Warning: picture overload  :) Even though it was nice in the house today, it was just too pretty not to get outdoors and work with plants. I only use this small space beside the step each year for my plants.  Last fall we brought this large plant holder from the lake. Right in front of the house is our drive, so this works good and it's a focal point when someone drives up. I refilled my mother's old black iron pot, hung 2 ferns, and a hanging basket out neighbor at the lake made and gave to us. Then a bird feeder, a rain chime, and hummingbird feeder were placed on it too. While I planted my flowers, my husband pressure washed the pollen from the house. I cornered my concrete bench, and need to get a few more plants for the small concrete pots. Welcome!! Now to the screened porch.  Nothing different from last year, but I worked hard getting the pollen off the floor.  This color really shows it, and it
