After Christmas Consignment Shopping

On Saturday, I decided I needed a little MORE retail therapy! Can you believe it!!  I knew there would be bargains to be found, and I love a bargain, so I brought a few pretty things home with me. My favorite find was this gorgeous runner for $8.99. AND it's reversible!! It also goes well with the runner on the pie safe. I got this sweet little cushion for $1.99! The "Snowmen Melt my Heart" sign/picture, was only $1.99 as well.  I'm just loving snowmen right now. I also found this planter for my aloe plant for only $8.99, too.  The ones I have been finding have been $12.99 and more.  I was glad to find this one.  I want to show you the cute roosters my daughter bought me for Christmas. (everyone feeds my "rooster" habit).  So cute, and they add a touch of whimsy to the breakfast table. This sweet rooster is also a lamp! She found these at Cracker Barrell.  So cute!! I also scored these two birch log can

Fave Projects of 2013

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is having a party to share our favorite projects from 2013.  Here are some of my favorites. I made these fabric hearts for Valentine's decor. I drew a pattern and made this lamp shade cover for a touch of Spring. I painted this table with a free Valspar sample, and love it so much!! This was originally wood toned, then black, then I painted it turquoise and added a fleur de lis. I made over this old wooden tote that I found for $20.00. I made over this wood compote, and this is probably my favorite DIY for 2013. From this, to this. I made a centerpiece for the sunroom table by using old jars that I painted, and placing them in a canning rack.  Loved this!! I altered some bottles. I painted all the items in this vignette, candlestick, picture of angels, and picture frame with free Valspar paint sample. I found these shutters for $10.00 and painted one side blue, and one whi

My Winter Mantel

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas with family and friends. We had a wonderful time. I've been busy today!!  I got all my Christmas decor down and put away!  I know that's fast, the day after Christmas!  But we plan to go out of town the first of the year, so I wanted to get things back in order.  So, here is what I did for the winter mantel, and I have to say, I'm lovin' it!! I kept out several of my snowmen, and a pine spray from my Christmas decor.  Then I intertwined some of the white ribbon I recently bought at a consignment shop, placed some white berries, and snowflakes in the spray, then hung some white snow flake ornaments from it too. The wreath originally had red and silver mesh.  I changed the red mesh to white, and hung it on the mirror. I added a string of clear lights to the spray. I really like the white and silver on the mantle.  I have also redecorated the bookcases, and have done a new tablescape in the dining room, an

Christmas Consignment Shopping

Today I went to a favorite shop for a little Christmas (for me) shopping.  I just needed to go browse, and take my time.  I've had terrible bronchitis for almost 2 weeks and have felt terrible. Feeling a little better, I wanted to get out for a while.  I found some of the sweetest Christmas decor pieces.  I found this darling red basket for $4.99.  Some crafty person had made this vintage post card into a lovely tree ornament, but this was the only one they had left.  Who could resist this sweet wooden snowman?  And this precious snow family.  This is all one piece, and so sweet! Then I found this sweet wood hanging snowman.  He's now beside the front door, on the porch. I couldn't leave this sweet Lenox candle holder.   Here are a couple things I've made that I haven't shown you. I made this arrangement for the front porch, and tried my hand at a book page Christmas tree. I used items on hand to create and
