After Christmas Consignment Shopping

On Saturday, I decided I needed a little MORE retail therapy! Can you believe it!!  I knew there would be bargains to be found, and I love a bargain, so I brought a few pretty things home with me.

My favorite find was this gorgeous runner for $8.99.

AND it's reversible!!

It also goes well with the runner on the pie safe.

I got this sweet little cushion for $1.99!

The "Snowmen Melt my Heart" sign/picture, was only $1.99 as well.  I'm just loving snowmen right now.

I also found this planter for my aloe plant for only $8.99, too.  The ones I have been finding have been $12.99 and more.  I was glad to find this one.

I want to show you the cute roosters my daughter bought me for Christmas. (everyone feeds my "rooster" habit).  So cute, and they add a touch of whimsy to the breakfast table.

This sweet rooster is also a lamp!

She found these at Cracker Barrell.  So cute!!

I also scored these two birch log candles for $5.00 each at BB&B (1/2 price).  I've been wanting some, but never came across any.

Have you shopped the after-Christmas sales, or are you kinda "burned-out" with shopping?

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
