Sharing Shadymont, My Mountain Cottage

We were at the lake home this past weekend, and brought this wonderful piece home with us.  I don't know what you would call this, but it had sat out in the yard there for probably 15 years or more.  We had mentioned bringing it home with us before, but just hadn't done it.  I bought spray paint and gave it a good paint job, and we decided to place it on the porch for right now. It has hooks for 8 baskets, but since we were placing it in this spot, I only hung 3 baskets on it. I think it is so nice. Hopefully we can enjoy these a little longer since they are not out in the open. When they are spent, I think I'll get baskets of pansies to last through the winter months.  I love the beaded hangers.  These were purchased at Lowe's. Recently when we purged everything here at the lake, I got rid of lots of seasonal decorations.  I kept just a few things so I could give a nod to fall if we happened to get here during the season.  We came down on for a long weekend, so I added just a few touches of traditional fall color to the house. Just this one piece for the coffee table.   On the TV, I placed this old vinegar bottle with burlap ribbon, a scarecrow and flower. I moved this colorful picture to the bench with these dried hydrangeas and woven basket in a guest room. Just a touch of color in the eating area, a bouquet of fall flowers in this vintage hobnail vase. A sunflower towel, draped over the cookbook container, a wooden pumpkin with another scarecrow, with another bunch of fall flowers on top of the hutch, and notice the yellow mums inside the hutch. You may remember the bi-fold door (below) that I painted and waxed and placed in the corner of the dining room.  I had another smaller bi-fold door in the basement that needed a makeover too.   I mixed some gray paint with plaster of paris and water to make some chalk paint.  It has just a hint of gray. I painted the smaller with it, rubbed on some dark wax, stenciled a tree design (using the same stencil I've used on numerous projects), and our street address number on the door, and stood it on the front porch.  I placed it behind this turquoise table and added faux mums to the clay jack-o-lantern. Just an additional bit of fall decor for the porch. I already had all the items, so no money was spent.   ~~~ This arrangement was a gift from my sister-in-law.  It stands between the front door, and the french door entrance to the dining room.
