Sunroom Ready for Valentine's Day

Sharing a few spots of Valentine's decor in the sunroom.  First, I hung these berry hearts on the lamp, just an impulse thing.  :) I made this runner and pillow cover from a scrap of fabric from the Wal Mart clearance bin.  I enjoy using them for a while each year. This red box gets used at various times of the year.  It looks great for Christmas or Valentine's. Pillow cover I added some pink polka dotted hearts to the decor in the sunroom.  I made these last year or the year before. A heart is tucked among the flowers here, and in the drawer of the jelly cupboard. I love changing up the décor in the sunroom.  It's such a bright room, that anything looks good there. I'll be sharing at these parties:  Home and Garden Thursday @  A Delightsome Lif e                 Home Sweet Home @  The Charm of Home      Feathered Nest Friday @  French Country Cottage  Katherines Corner  for Favorite Thin

Decorating a Vintage Bookcase for Valentine's Day

It's less than a month until Valentine's Day, so I brought a few items into my décor.  I have used all of these in former years, but in different places. I love to decorate the bookcase in the dining room.  Painting this bookcase white was my first chalk paint project.  One of the doors that I painted and distressed stands behind the bookcase adding to the vintage appeal.  The little shelf holds a DT doily, and a small candy tin, as well as a glass heart tea light holder I've had for years.  The foil heart also came from DT. Love this cupid couple.  Bought at a drug store a long time ago. Same here, bought at Eckerd Drugs. This is an old sewing tin that held sewing machine accessories, but I love using it for Valentine's and Christmas.  I filled it with fabric hearts I made over the last couple of years. ( the green on the lid is the reflection of my shirt).  :) This wire basket is filled with fabric hearts, as well. T

Some Favorite Vignettes

Often I look back at ways I have decorated in the past, for ideas for the present.  While doing that today, I decided to do a post showcasing some of my favorite vignettes.  Usually, they come together for me fairly effortlessly, but sometimes I need a jog in memory about some of the items I have but haven't used in a while.  I have numerous bins of decorations in the basement, and sometimes I forget what I have. I love using stacked cake stands, and that is what I did here. The two cupids were purchased years ago from Eckerd Drugs, I believe.  I use these lots. Here is another cupid used on the old table in the sun room. Looks like I had a theme going.   This a favorite too.  I loved using the old watches that belonged to my husband's father, and of course one of my sewing machine drawers.  I use those all the time. This vignette sat on an ottoman in the office. This is a vignette from last summer.  Love this tablecloth.  It will be back in use

The runners, placemats, etc., are included, so I picked up a few things.  If I end up not using them, I'll give them away, or include in a yard sale.  Tapestry Table Runner  Table Cloth Christmas Cards Tapestry Placemats Retail:  $15.00 Total out of pocket:  $1.00 I plan to make cushions using the placemats. Simple Sweet Treasures

Today started out foggy and dreary, and I was home alone.  To keep from getting depressed, I decided some retail therapy would be great.  I put on my sweats and tennis shoes, and traveled about 45 miles to a large consignment/antique shop. It takes a good two hours to walk through this shop and briefly look at all the treasures that await you!  I came away with some "new to me" goodies and only spent $25.00.  My kind of shopping. I found these wonderful dried hydrangeas in this lovely shade of green, so I bought them at $7.00.  I knew they would be the right height, and the perfect centerpiece for my dining room table.  I love how well they blend with this old green runner. I have had it for probably 7 years or more, bought when I first started consignment shopping. I love the hint of a blush the blooms have. I bought this metal pail a long time ago too, and noticed that it was a clearance item by the tag on the bottom.  I think I got it at Kirkland&
