Creating a Corner Vignette

I remember an old song from years ago, called Brighten the Corner.  That is what I did in a corner of the dining room.  For a very long time, a tall dark piece stood here. I recently moved it to the master bedroom.  Seen below. To brighten this corner,  I gathered several pieces and by layering them together, created a lighter space in the dining room. First, I moved this old door from another corner to use as the backdrop, and as a place to hang other items.  I added this small shelf (thrifting find) to the door. This picture was a consignment find for around $3, and I hung it above the shelf.  I made several of these peat pot arrangements a while ago, so I added one to the shelf. The birdcage is light weight, and the yellow works with the picture.  My granddaughter gave me the little bracelet on the shelf.   This wired frame was added next.  I bought the empty frame at a yard sale, painted it and added the wire to us...

Some Frugal Finds

I had the afternoon alone yesterday, so that meant I needed to check out my favorite consignment shop.  I found a few items that caught my eye, and they came home with me. First, is this small shelf.  I attached it to the old door I refinished a couple years ago. Tiny shelf ($4.99) I decorated this oval frame for winter with some berries and pine.  The sled ornament works for winter as well as for Christmas, so I kept it out too. The next item I bought was this sweet wall hanging.  It was half-priced at $2.00. Do you have a favorite chair or sofa, that you gravitate to?  I do.  I always sit on the love seat.  I keep my laptop, its charger, my kleenex, some lotion, ink pens, etc. on the table beside me, so I bought this small metal container to corral them.
