One day recently, I started moving dishes around between the jelly cupboard, corner cabinet, and pie safe.  Recently the jelly cupboard held primary colored dishes, canisters, etc.  Now it holds clear glass items.   I lined the white shelves with red/white gingham vinyl shelf liner, to match the red and white of the cupboard itself. It holds some crystal, depression glass, cut glass, old S/P shakers, and some candy dishes. The vase below belonged to my grandmother, and what would an old cupboard be without a rooster plate?   I love these little dishes.  They belonged to my MIL. These dishes belonged to my MIL as well.  Isn't this a pretty relish tray? (Depression glass)   Vignette on the top. I found this bread box at a yard sale in May of 2012 for $8.00.  The lady having the yard sale had done the crackle finish on it. I liked it since the taupe and cream blended well with my counter top, so I've used it this way ever since I bought it. This morning, I was in the mood to be a little creative, so I decided to give the bread box a makeover.  I had all the paints and supplies in my stash, so this upgrade cost me nothing.  You can see below, that the box had a low sheen. Since I wanted to give it a distressed look, I didn't sand or anything.  I wanted some of the colors to show through the new paint color. I gave it a "messy" paint technique, not quite a dry-brush, but a look where the brush strokes showed.   I painted the hinges and knob with a white acrylic paint then took some of the paint off with a steel wool. Before the paint was totally dry, I used a fine steel wool to distress the edges.   Notice how promine

During the summer months, I move my indoor plants to the screened porch where they really thrive.  I try not to over water, but usually water about twice a week when it's so hot.  This summer my Anthurium has just thrived.  Right now it is just full of blooms. It has been sitting underneath the ladder where it gets the benefit of the blowing rain, and drips from some of the other plants higher on the ladder, and I think that is why it has so many blooms.  It normally will only have about 2 at a time. Here you can see how full it is, and all the blooms. This plant came as a cutting from a friend/co-worker of mine.  It has done so well! The blooms look waxy.  There are about 2000 different species of these plants, I discovered. My Christmas Cactus is thriving, and so full!
