Fabulous Finds at Good Will

I checked out our GW on Sr. discount day this week, and found nothing!!  One day later, I hit the jackpot.  Some really nice stuff, y'all!

Look at this!  Can you believe it?  Total price.............drum roll, please....................................................................$19.41!!

I couldn't believe all the turquoise items I found!  I had ladies stopping to look at the items in my cart!  I mean, this was perfect timing!

Flowers: $2.92;

plates:$1.21 each;

 metal buckets: $1.21 each

 Hugs sign: $2.92;

 White Pottery Barn Vase, $3.93;

 Wood Fleur de lis $3.93.

Un be liev able!!!!!  Did I know what I was going to do with all this?  No!  But I knew I had to have all of it!!

So this is what I did!  I restyled my bookcase in the family room.

I cut apart the turquoise hydrangeas so I could arrange them. They were all made together into one bush, so once separated, they looked really good.

 I love this!!  I took all the books and pumpkins off and just started playing with the new items.
 The lamp and wood sign work well together.

The pottery barn vase is so nice and heavy.  I think the flowers look so good in it.

 While I was styling, I reworked the coffee table too.

I think this may be my favorite GW haul ever!!  I am so happy with the way my bookcase looks now!

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Christmas tablecloth, consignment sale. ...

What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after". Here is a collection of vases and crystal pitchers .   These were all gifts except the smallest one in the front and the one to the right of it. China and a consignment shop cake plate.  The china was formerly my MILs. More china . This little fairy lives here with her 2 sisters. They ...

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...
