Changes in the Sun Room

Since I now have pink in my family room (til I can convince someone we need new furniture), I decided to get rid of the pink in the sun room, and I love it!!  Here is the before, in pink:

Here is the look as of this evening.

We moved the pink white and green rug out, and brought in this one.

I had fabric from GW that was just enough to cover the chaise cushions an the one in the rocker, so I put those on and pinned them in place with safety pins until I have time to do them right.

The cover on the table beside the rocker is a fall head scarf.
I decided I could use some fall colors in here without so much pink.
The orange one is a ladies scarf also, just makes a great runner.
These are the curtains I made for pennies, and they were in the bedroom until recently.  I've never had long curtains in here except 2 lace ones at one point for a short time.

I brought in a brown monogrammed pillow.  The box on the table holds fall colored books, a bird, and flower pot.

This table cloth on the left is a good will find.  It has fall leaves.  I placed pumpkins, a grapevine wreath, and a "family" sign on the turquoise door.

I placed a pillow in the rocker.  The fabric has birds on it.

I wasn't sure I'd like these curtains in this room, but with the other changes, I really like it.  The arrangement on the eating table is a very old pitcher I found at GW.  it has orange, green, etc., and holds small flowers in those colors.  I have to make a curtain for the small window on the left of the bank of windows.  I'll have to check my stash for enough fabric.

I'm so excited with these changes, I may leave it this way.

I think it has an even more cottage vibe than before.  I think it's the curtains.

Hope you like this change!!

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Christmas tablecloth, consignment sale. ...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
