What's In the Cupboard?

Today, I'm going through some cupboards to see what they hold. Not going to change them right now, but I'm planning to do so right away, as I feel like it.

THE PIE SAFE

The pie safe sits in the breakfast nook. It was my grandmother's and then my mother's. It holds a variety of items, most thrifted. This gold set was a $15 thrift store find. I love the color, and they are the bumble bee design.

The top holds a French basket with a rooster plate, a rooster lamp, and

a tool caddy I painted white, and added a graphic to each side. It holds flowers, and some odd plates.

There are 3 pieces of depression glass, and some white items also in the cupboard. So the purpose of this cupboard is strictly decorative in nature. I was thinking I might re do it and have some of my large bowls inside it. I have a yellow ware bowl of my mother's that I like to display.

On to the jelly cupboard...

It is purely decorative too, with a bunch of odds and ends. I really need to get these straightened out and make them more useful.

The top will soon be covered with fall décor. I'm anxious to get my Fall on! I'll still use my aqua though. Gotta have some blue.

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains. I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale. It is a vintage Wielunder. They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars. Mine is in pristine condition! What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning. First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room. Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet. Really, how does that happen? My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust. This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too. It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often. I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore. Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently. But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better. I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final. I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk about it quite yet. But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.
