Painting A Vintage Table

We had planned to go to the lake house this past Monday, but learned that our granddaughter will graduate from kindergarten tomorrow morning, so we decided to wait and leave after that.  We will be traveling most of the day tomorrow, so I wanted to show something I did this afternoon.

I've had this little vintage table for several years.  When I bought it, it was brown in color.  I later painted it white, then just recently dry painted the top and "apron" with a Valspar sample called Green Water.

Today, I decided I wanted it all painted the green color, as I had already moved it from the guest room to the sun room.  Here is the new look!

I wanted good coverage all over, except I left the edges with white showing thfough.  I may add some more white as accents, but that will be after we return from the lake.

Here it is with a vignette on top.

The picture is of a small lad riding in a wagon.  It was a gift to me a number of years ago, and is a favorite.

Hubby has been busy getting everything cut before we leave for a few days, and I made a couple of shots of the back yard.

Isn't it pretty?  He does such a great job keeping everything cut.  I loved the shade across the grass, and wanted to share it.

Hope you all have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!  Take care!

  4. What a gorgeous yard, Kathy! Your husband has to be full of energy to keep up with all that. I too love the shadows across the green. Beautiful! Your table is so pretty as well. That green looks like a good one. I spent much of yesterday in between projects trying to mix up a sufficient green like one I saw on a table online. Still haven't perfected it yet. It's hard finding the right color!

  7. Hello Kathy, Love this sweet little table and the color is fantastic - my Dearest would LOVE your grass. Is it a guy thing? I saved and bought a zero-turn mower for him for his birthday last year - he's been enjoying riding it and quickly getting the grass cut. I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
    Kathy

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

The Great White Pumpkin

Ever since I saw the pumpkins made from clothes dryer venting hose, I have wanted to make one.  It just so happened that we had some leftover vent hose in the basement, and while I was down there yesterday, I cut off a piece, taped the ends together with masking tape, and spray painted it white.  I let it dry over night.  This morning I brought it up and finished it.  This project is another freebie, because I had everything needed to complete it. I wrapped a piece of cardboard tube from wrapping paper with jute string for the stem.  Then all I had to do was stick the little sprig of orange and green in beside the stem, tie a piece of rust raffia on it, and it was done! This is a simple project, and only takes a few minutes. Once complete, I changed the coffee table vignette to include it. I placed everything in a consignment store tray I bought several years ago.  I was already using the acorns and flower arrangement on the coffee table. ...
