My sister-in-law gave me this picture of a little chapel a very long time ago. It is a Home Interior product, and the year 1987 is stamped on the back, so it has been around for 25 years.
I came across the picture last Saturday when I was shopping the basement and brought it upstairs. Once upstairs, I decided to give the frame a coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
Once I let the paint dry, I simply sanded it with a sanding block but didn't add any wax. I really do like the frame painted Old White.
Now, where to place it? First I put it in a corner in the dining room.
We were unable to enjoy it placed in the corner of the dining room, so I moved it into the foyer. Now it is seen when you enter the front door.
I think I found the perfect spot. Don't you?

Ladies, thank you so much for hosting these weekly parties!
I was into home interiror parties in that year. I remember that little chapel picture. It is gorgeous! I love your vignette on your table!

ReplyDeleteI love it! What a difference. I was so into re-vamping thift items last year and the year before but, here latly time is of essence. Maybe soon . . .
ReplyDeleteI love the frame painted and distressed. I have two home interiors sconces I should paint. They were bought at different times/years and are a tad different. I have thought about painting them several times.
ReplyDeleteYour picture looks just right in that spot Kathy, love what you've done with the frame too!

Oh, the frame looks wonderful and really looks good with the little white church. I love it. Oh, how I remember Home Interiors. My aunt used to work for them and every Christmas she would give us a HI gift! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to see me and I really like your new picture of you!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh my goodness, I had that picture too but I can't remember if I still have it or not. We've made several moves since I bought it and I don't remember it being in our last home where we lived almost 14 years. Thanks for posting, it brings back memories and I love the the white paint and rustic look. You did a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteLove the white chalk finish and it looks great in the picture/plate stand in your foyer. I have a desk that resembles the table you have it placed on. Thanks for visiting my site too! Appreciated your comment!
ReplyDeleteI did something similar with a Home Interiors Print I had. I just sold the print on Kijiji this week since it no longer fit our decor. I LOVE your makeover!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture. I love your new look.
ReplyDeleteI like the new updated look of the picture frame. The white seems to make the church show up better. Thanks for joining Your Cozy Home Party. Hope to see you next week.----------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteYou did find the perfect spot for that picture. Loved visiting your blog.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic....
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the AS paint yet. My budget is pretty tight so I pretty much stick with Lowes paints. :))
This really turned out nice.
You definitely found the right spot for your picture. And painting the frame white really makes the picture pop!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Mary Alice
